Rumor: Nylander like Matthews unextended. Nothing to see here.

Winnipeg can attempt to sign Nylander or flip him later for assets (to be fair, they can already do that but I get the impressiom Schiefele is done there).

He outpointed Matthews last year who makes significantly more than 9M AAV, and this was playing only 18.5 minutes per game while Matthews played over 22 mpg and was PP1 while Willy was on the PP2. Nothing to say about how much more of a play driver Willy is than Tavares who's making $11m, he can easily justify making more than $9M.

Saying that him and Matthews gotta probably talk and say hey let's take a little less to keep the band together, like geez they're both multi-multi-multi millionaires already now cement your legacy by taking a little less to build a deep team and win a damn cup

When Willie and Leafs are far, lets trade him.
When AM and Leafs are far, look at the Cap%, shorter deal.....

Cant wait to see JT carry his own line 5v5 and see how he does with his 11mil AVV. Keefe will probably bend over and let JT-AM-MM to be on a line regularly bc you just can't have JT, the Capt look bad.

For real, I would've been all over AnaHeim trying to get the #2 pick or McTavish in some sorta deal, use the cap savings to shore up some depth
 
If they trade Nylander the one whose faced the most unreasonable criticism, while being the one who shows up in the playoffs, and decide to give Matthews and Marner everything, they have some explaining to do. Unless Nylander is asking for too much, but if it's 9, thats a bad move

Here is the thing.

What is Willie's camp asking, if he is asking for 9.5mil and more, trade his ass. But at the same time, if AM is asking 12.5mil and more, you do the same thing bc he is not worth the money just like Willie is not worth 9.5mil and more.

The fact that they signed Kampf at 2.4mil is a huge signal that they are going to overpaid for players. IF Kampf won't sign for 2mil, trade his rights to the team will to sign him for more or just let him walk. Kampf is not someone who makes or breaks the team, why do you let someone like that bend you over for 400k more, which is 20% more than he should get.

Can't wait to see what Acciari signs for bc if it is less or the same, it is bad deal for the Leafs not to pursue Acciari.

I dont understand the nylander showing up for playffs vs the other 2 mantra

They all have been underwhelming consistently in the playoffs.. nylander has had better 'moments' than the other three stylish wise.. that is it

They have nevwr all been going at once.. it is a constant rotation of your turn.. but collectively it is a 4 plop dump

I dont get it..

The Leafs needed to play hard ball long ago. Now they're between a rock and a hard place.

Players see MLSE printing money and they think, "I deserve a piece of that". Sure you do but there's a cap so...

I agree.

Personally, I don't think our top 4 can win the Cup collectively. I would even go and state that the sooner they trade two of them and retool like Avs when they traded ROR and Duchense away and kept Landy and Mack, the better the Leafs would be.

You can start any time. We might not make the playoffs or view as CONTENDERS but our season is usually just 7 games longer than half the teams in the league. So who cares. The top needs to make decisions based on winning the Cup instead of we cant lose this guy or that guy bc they are too valuable. Just look at the Kampf's contract and we already know where this team is heading.

I in my heart agree as well... and both heart and gut believe it is time to move on from marner in the right deal.. we need some emotion that can be consistent

We need f***en hockey players.. for anyone who understands what i mean

I do and so does a lot here, but then you get quite a few, they are usually more vocal, who state that we can't lose him or him....bc they put up great individual numbers.....
