Jamal Mayers, Niklas Hagman, Matthew Stajan and Ian White
for Phaneuf, Aulie and Sjostrom was hardly a bad trade.

Acquiring Phaneuf was an amazing trade. The bad part of the move not finding him a partner to play with!

The fast skating Willy is rather slow to fill the shooting lanes on D is my vision of Willy not working hard.
It keeps him healthy though so I do not mind :)
 
Willie is not going to play as C. If he has any intentions of ever playing as C, he had plenty of chances the past two seasons.
 
The Kadri trade was not even a bad trade.

And Kadri is my favourite Leaf of all time probably.

Dude had a DoPS target on his back.

Total BS IMO. But it got to the point that he was a liability, again total BS. But it was what it was.

How would anyone know that Tyson Barrie was gonna suck, and Kadri would flourish and win a cup? (and I loved every second watching him win it)

Hindsight, man if you have a crystal ball you can be the best GM ever.

It’s hard as a Leafs fan not to get all conspiracy theory about the reffing and DoPs in this league. Kadri, Bunting, the calls against, the calls not called when it’s us on the receiving end.

Kadri was one of my favourite Leafs, a shame how it went down. In hindsight the trade sucks, but most people also forget all of the internal runs ins he had with the org, internal suspension, publicly being called out, having team meeting with his parents….. great player a shame he lacked/s responsibility for his own actions.

1-i talking about defensive zone mora tham anything

2- big part of nylander of the slot shot came from breakway 2v1 or on those kind of situation. doesn't mean anything sorry and its Kind of situation who will not happen as much if hes playing at c because he will not be able to cheat as much than right now

I know exactly what happened with Kadri, and not gonna say it.

Some people didn't like him for stupid and ignorant reasons, and held him to a different standard.

Including the DoPS, who (get some tin foil) either love to make an example of Leafs players, or let the Bruins do whatever they want, or some mixture of the two.

Doesn't matter. Kadri got f'd over by the DoPS and had to go..........

Then he won the Stanley Cup and it was awesome.

Just stop. You don’t know what you are talking about and trying to spin isn’t going to change that. Nylander takes the puck into the slot and dirty areas with regularity. You are exposing yourself here.

Thats probably why he had 1 goal ( a peripheric goal) at 5v5 in his last 21 playoff game...certainly not because he just stay in peripheric all game long yeah for sure
 
Reminder:

8.8 AAV cap hit on the 8 year deal; if not...

1) trade willy
2) force him to go to UFA and then all he has is at max 7 yrs he can sign the deal. Lets see what other teams offer nylander in terms of the total package for 7 years and then work from there.

Nylander was fifth in penalties drawn and taken, among forwards.

Only Engvall drew fewer penalties per 60 than JT.

Agree about Kadri.

Here's a good question for Willy in one of the press conferences at training camp or at some point during next season: Do you value being a leaf more than earning potentially $1-2 million more?

Cause if you watched Avs in the playoffs summer before the trade you’d realize he was basically on their third pair with the rookie makar and Johnson on the right side

I wonder how truly involved dubas was with kadri - i cant see some guys really taking him serious even being the boss cause of.. stuff
