Pastrnak gets 11.25M and scored 60 goals and already has a Rocket on the resume. He also knew the cap was going up.

To me, he's not worth 11M, someone can absolutely pay that price if they choose to do so but he won't be worth it.

Tre should be looking to trade him if they are asking close to Pasta money. If he gets $11m I'll be selling my reserved spot on the parade route.

People buy into the hype too much, it's been a nice 17 games with Nylander but we know who he is.

He's a very good to great player having a great year in a contract year.

It's likely a 9.75-10M x 8 deal.

If someone wants to offer up 11.142M x7 to match our 9.75M x 8, go for it.

Maybe 2-3 other teams in the entire league can offer the signing bonuses and front loaded salary we could.

Pasta > PPG in regular season and playoffs, more hardware, would have won the MVP last year if not for McDavid doing stupid stuff

Nylander technically got 7.5M x 6 but it was reduced to 6.9M because we waited until the very end of his signing timeframe and got a very inflated cap hit in the 1st season (10.2M aav) and 2M signing bonuses to be made whole.

Matty and Mitch absolutely did not take discounts.

I liken the WIllie deal to the MacKinnon, Scheifele, Pasta, Marchand deals. These guys outperformed their contracts but not much of a discount was given at the time they signed IMO.

How many do? Most of those who are not on the Leafs who make 10 or more a year. You are impressed that one of our stars stays mid. Maybe he goes to another team with a different work ethic and chemistry/leadership and excels into the next Mario Lemeiux? It won't be here. Not in this dressing room. Not with this leadership.

It's been 8 years of failure. I've seen enough. If we overpay to keep a mid tier playoff performer...we are never winning anything.

8 years with this leadership? Only Rielly and Nylander (22 games) have even been on the team for 8 years. If you're looking at failure, it's been 56 years.

McDavid hasn't done it -- I guess he's not worth $10M either.

I don't know - we're already overpaying by more to keep three others who drop off a lot in the playoffs, as opposed to one player who is paid a lot less and actually improves in the playoffs. I'm not sure he's the one we should be singling out to complain about.

If you want to complain about the leadership, yes - that's Tavares and Matthews, and to a lesser extent Marner and Rielly.

Yes, he has a full NMC (thanks Dubas) and he really wants to stay here. I don't think any amount of disquiet among the fans (and there are still a few who think he's worth his contract) will convince him to waive.

It would certainly help the team, but I don't see it as even much of a possibility.

Nylander got 45M / 6

He extracted 5M more than his peers and the signing bonuses made him whole for that time he missed.
