Post-Game Talk: Nylander and Shootouts get Leafs 2 points Vs Flames

But neither of those are going to happen.

Instead you hope the d-corps gets healthy again and the pairings are configured as they were intended.

I think at this point is is better to waive him if there are no other options and have Timmins play instead...

We will see, but I don't think he is injured right now and I think Keefe has had enough.

It's the least happy I've been about a win in a while. I know it seems silly but that was an easy win and the Leafs still turned it into a slop fest.

They always let up when they're up by 2 or 3. Very tired of it.

Sometimes it happens once in a while but early in this season it's been too often.... or they're always fighting to come back by not 1 but 3 goals etc.

They need a lot of work still. I thought it was chemistry early on and it's a bit that but they need help on D bad and their goaltending at this point is shit. With all the goals they have they should be 4 to 6 points higher.

Anyway it's a win but tomorrow isn't going to be easy at all. Sammy better be ready.

Go Leafs Go.

Holmboy in, Reaves in…the press box.

HFOil super salty - but they allow so many goals! *glances at both team records, nearly 20% through the season.*

Already a big thread on HFNotCanadasTeam - they want this one.

Let’s knock them down a little.

A lot of positives to take away from this game. Third line played really well, I liked Robertson’s game. The second line was exceptional, Nylander and Tavares very good. The third pairing of Lagesson and Benoit were solid if unspectacular.

The negatives….Giordano is done. Brodie right behind him. Reaves with another minus 2 in 4:23. When will Keefe learn he is done. The fourth line is unplayable with him on it. Enough is enough. There have to be players on the Marlies who will offer more than Reaves.

All in all, we deserved to win. Calgary had few chances and scored on point shots, tip-ins, and scrambles. But Treliving has to wake the hell up and do something to improve the defence.

got the 2 pts

Woll - up and down

Domi - another good game at C and driving the 3rd line success

Nicki Bobbi - playing well but the jr shit started to creep back , if he stops moving the puck and starts running around aimlessly while shooting the puck from anywhere he'll play himself back to the A

D - still shit without Berg which isn't a surprise

1st line - had there chances , okay game

Willie - another dominant game . crazy how easy he's making it look

Reaves can never play again
Matthews was bad
Robertson was good
Nylander was insane
Woll was up and down
Defensive play was pretty good

Because our Leafs were up 4-1, and they almost let the game slip away.
The same way they were down 4-1 against Tampa and won? Leads change in games. It happens. All of this moaning, and yet has anyone looked where the Leafs are in the standings despite playing way below their abilities? Literally tied with almost every other team in the conference. In other words, even playing at their worst they are treading water with everyone else. When they start playing well, they will leapfrog all of these teams.

We've had a single game with the whole D-corps together.

When Lilly is back in and they're all back together, I'd actually like to see a stretch of games with Keefe's "protection" in place rather than plunging $4.5M in cap-space away.

He wasn't signed to play defensive minutes, it just so happened that our 3+4 defenders went down early in the season.

All we need is a 4th that can hold the fort on most nights. If they chip in with the odd goal - cool. I think Kampfs play will improve if they can put a guy on his line that at least knows how to and is still capable of hockeying.

Keefe has been protecting him though... I'd just rather see Timmins if we are fully healthy... Gio can only babysit Klingberg so much.

I'd wanna see Klingberg longer, but this play is just an extension of the last few years, it isn't new.

Not overly impressed with this win. Yes, take the 2 points but the team has to be better. Woll got better as the game went on.

Nylander was spectacular, getting him extended in Toronto is now $10M +.

Great win. No false positives, clearly there is much to work on, but we didn't full collapse like the Ottawa game and the W feels way better than an OTL.

If we can manage another gutsy win against the Canucks, we may actually have something to look forward to with the European trip. Climb out of the hole one game at a time

If he's playing 2nd pairing defensive minutes, no that isn't protection or where he was supposed to be slotted going into the season.

Playing higher than your intended slot on defence is the complete opposite of protecting, that's exposing.
