currently right now Matthews is leading the league in goals. currently right now nylander is not leading the league in anything except contract cost.

You can't do anything with the money until JT's contract is up. When Dubas signed him the die was cast. WE are stuck with four guys taking up too much salary cap. I agree a lot with what you said. But it doesnt matter unless one of the four is traded. That's not going to happen.

Something I think about... I don't know how true it is but it I can't help from entering my mind... Is that this leadership group, management, is so stubborn that they are not going to make a change because they made the commitment to themselves to prove to everyone they are correct with their decisions.. They're going to go down swinging with this group no matter what.

Maybe there are no other options, maybe there were no trade candidates or matches for any of these guys, I just can't help but think that even if there was, leafs management wouldn't do anything because they are just so dead set on proving everyone. They're right that they're going to ride this to the end with these guys.

My overall opinion hasn't changed. They have no busts in their high paid guys but they have no bargains. No busts means you are going to be good, good enough to make the playoffs. But with no bargains, there's not enough money to fill out the bottom of the roster properly. So you're never going to be great. Guaranteed, good, guaranteed Not great.

Both Nylander and Tavares should have higher shooting %, at least Tavares. 11 and 8 something against Matthews 19 Marnes 17 something. But it is good that Nylander shoots a lot.

I’m convinced we regret this contract, and that’s no offence to Willie, it’s just absurd money for what he’s done “historically”. With that said, I’d seriously entertain trading him prior to this deal kicking in, should things go sideways. I know it won’t happen, but that no move clause with his new deal is the clincher for me. He will never live up to this cap hit, it just isn’t him and the fans will turn on him hard. Maybe I’m wrong, but I doubt it.

He had a stretch like this last year lots of shots no goals. I think they need to split them up or get Holmberg on there line, just to get them going. At least if the pattern continue next game.

Matthews line had 3 shots 5p. Hockey aint fair sometimes.

I did not say they played bad. Still with 3 shots vs 11 i would bet on the 11 shots to convert into a goal. Holmgren has the mojo need to put him on the Tavares Nylander line . Knies realy aint it right now.

I saw that he looked good and had several chances, and the stats confirmed it.

It seems some people look at the 'score' sheet, see no goals or assists, and assume a player did nothing.

There was a lot of lazy play on both sides of the puck for that line despite their shot total.

I've long been concerned about Nylander's motive once he gets his payday.

He's had a few posts the last couple of games and Tavares' struggling hasn't helped, but oh boy his extension and the team's struggles have been a bad mix.

Agreed, but if a team was stupid enough to take it on it would’ve been a genius way to move Styles with term to increase the return, but unfortunately no one in the Leafs organization is that smart……….
