I know it is still middle of the season, but he's leading the team in points today, jumped ahead of Matthews with his 4 sorry Tavares decided he wanted to skate the puck into the empty net and lost it 3 assists.

It would be nice, but they have to play out Tavares contract.
What would be exceptional is if someone on a ELSC was able to step up, but expecting one to be 2nd. line center is kind of extreme.

I think if they add another speedy winger to a Domi-Nylander line it would work. Willy can drive things offensively on his own, he just needs guys who can keep up in terms of pace.
Would let Tavares potentially play the wing on the third line in his final year where he could do better against weaker competition as he slows down.

If I heard correctly, on the broadcast tonight they said that Nylander is the fastest Leaf to 80 points in a season since Gilmour/Andreychuk. So if true, he's now done something that not even Matthews or Marner has been able to do, that's pretty cool.
