Islanders offence looks horrible Ladd in Nielsen Okoposo out . They are nose diving down the standings this season

We're in win now mode. This is going to give us room to make more moves. He turned down 6x6 earlier in the year, so he took a discount.

I really don't understand why we didn't just give Nielsen the 6/7 year deal he asked for if we were going to pay more and give 7 years to Ladd...Snow needs to go NOW.

Wouldn't even sign in Winnipeg for six years at six million, but the deal is very equivalent.

Whatever, we hardly knew ya. This deal is bad, we were better off giving it to Scheifele anyway.

Can't wait to hear all the Ladd proposals in the next couple've years and keep hearing that he's a buyout candidate for the Islanders.

Ladd over Okposo? Brutal move by the Isles. Oh well one less team to worry about in the Metro.

Nielsen gone too. NYI have plenty of good young guys on the way, though. And while I think the contract will be a boat anchor by the time he's 35, for the time being adding Ladd to an emerging young team is a good move.

But that's alot of lost production (Okposo/Nielsen)

Terrible term but we've needed a guy like this for a while. Hopefully we are done with signings though. Otherwise we'll repeat this process in a few years, except instead of KO/Frans/Martin it will be Hamonic/de Haan/Lee/etc.

Term is just awful.

Like Ladd - hope it works out for him and the Islanders - but right now this is looking like a bad move. I think for first 3 or 4 years though it could be very worth it as some Islanders fans have noted they need a guy like Ladd on Tavares line.

All the best Ladd.

Yup, term is too much but the cap hit is actually lower than I expected it to be. I like Ladd but have serious doubts about him still being an effective player towards the end of this deal.

He won't make it to year 6, the Isles will probably try to unload him or have to buy him out. The same thing with Boychuk.

It's the price of doing business in UFA, it's a win now move.

Hope for the Isles fans sake that Ladd looks better there than he did in Chicago.

Just not sure why this contract would be considered "better" than signing their own guy in either Okposo or Nielsen?
