Official 2024-25 Utah HC Season Discussion.

The players are following BAs lead, they believe him.

Or maybe BA and his years of experience in professional hockey actually knows what he's talking about. That he was actually honest and correct with the expectations he set for the new fanbase. Aren't you always saying you want more honesty from Tourigny? You're getting honesty from BA and you don't like it.

Or, since they're professional athletes that like a challenge and are competitive by nature, they could use that as motivation to exceed expectations. These guys face the media's expectations and criticisms too. They should be able to handle it. They've exceeded expectations before.

What about next year, lets play "meaningful" games, is that ok, its year 6 ?

Is this a diversion? You can't possibly think that BA is going to keep setting the same expectations every season lol.

If the team owner buys into the low bar being set by Bill, good for Bill, it creates job security. Unless the team finishes with 72 points or less, everything is good, we are where we want to be and should be, according to BA.

Look at all the resources available online regarding rebuilds and you'll see it's not a low bar. Show me what standard you're using to decide we should be in the playoffs in year 4 of a rebuild. I don't think you can because facts & historical data support everything BA has said. It really is rare that teams 4 years into a rebuild make the playoffs.

It's obvious that you're basing everything you believe on opinion because anyone that has researched it would know you haven't. :naughty:

I had been thinking about this for a while now, and now that Kolyachonok has been lost to a waiver pickup, it seems even more relevant.

All year I have thought that Kolyachonok was a better d-man than Valimaki. I could never quite figure out why Tourigney kept playing Valimaki over Kolaychonok. Am I alone in that thought?
Any time I saw Kolyachonok in action he looked really good. He deserved more opportunity IMO. He'll get that with Pittsburgh.

We won't miss him though. Maatta has been excellent. Cole's steady presence is helping Kesselring. Szuber is ready for a chance. It won't be long before Duda and Simashev are pushing too. Bottom pair LD are a dime a dozen in the NHL. Our abundance of cap lets us play a guy in that slot who earns more than league minimum.

Show me a team with the same GM after 5 years in a row of playoff misses or a coach that missed 4 years in a row, that got to keep their job? This is year 5 for BA, next year is year 6. Since you have done all the research, you should know the answer. I know a bit about leadership, you can't hit a target your not aiming for and in the last 5 seasons this team has not beaten expectations ever.

The first real chance we have of making the playoffs is when leadership, Bear/Ba states that as the goal. You have to think it before it will happen.

With Marino back, Durzi coming back and DeSimone, who I have never heard of and is playing better than Koly and Valimaki, there was really no spot for Koly. Pittsburgh will be a good spot for him. Hope he does well.

Detroit.

@cobra427 I've shared information that disputes your opinion many times. You have provided NOTHING.

The burden of proof is on you, but your"re not seeking the truth.
Instead of focusing on teams who didn't rebuild well why don't you take a look at last number of Cup Champs and see how many wallow3d for 5, 6, 7 years in rebuilding. The answer is none and that's why you can't set a number of years to rebuild because they are all different. What you also won't find is a team that's 5 or 6 years into rebuild without change or expectations at tge top. I believe that's what cobra is questioning, the acceptance of mediocrity.

@Jamieh Are you kidding? Look for yourself. He brings up not making the playoffs daily. It's the basis for his entire narrative.
No it is not. I am saying in year 5 of the GMs tenure, and year 4 of the coaches tenure, we would be seeing more progress in the results then we have so far. No GM would be hired if he said the plan is to make the playoffs in year 6 of my tenure, that would be next year. In year 5 we likely miss, and thats ok if we play "meaningful" games. That wouldn't land you any GM job and it certainly wasn't in BAs plans to miss the playoffs 5 years in a row. A 4 year miss for a coach would get anyone fired too. Other owners would make changes by now or this summer, but somehow BA claims we are right where we should be, I question that narrative, and its self serving for sure.

I really hope we kill it down the stretch and make the playoffs or come close, say 90 points. Its not likely but it would go a long way for BA/Bear. If the team fades again down the stretch, then what?

Bill just has a draft pick addiction. Bill first step is admitting it.

But I believe if we miss the playoffs changes will be made.

Post of the year! Anyone who has been in leadership or management that reports to leadership knows this is the golden rule.

Stole this from Threeputt, off the Clean Hits Discord. Looks like it's from Petey's cast.
