Official 2024-25 Utah HC Season Discussion.

The players are following BAs lead, they believe him.

Or maybe BA and his years of experience in professional hockey actually knows what he's talking about. That he was actually honest and correct with the expectations he set for the new fanbase. Aren't you always saying you want more honesty from Tourigny? You're getting honesty from BA and you don't like it.

Or, since they're professional athletes that like a challenge and are competitive by nature, they could use that as motivation to exceed expectations. These guys face the media's expectations and criticisms too. They should be able to handle it. They've exceeded expectations before.

What about next year, lets play "meaningful" games, is that ok, its year 6 ?

Is this a diversion? You can't possibly think that BA is going to keep setting the same expectations every season lol.

If the team owner buys into the low bar being set by Bill, good for Bill, it creates job security. Unless the team finishes with 72 points or less, everything is good, we are where we want to be and should be, according to BA.

Look at all the resources available online regarding rebuilds and you'll see it's not a low bar. Show me what standard you're using to decide we should be in the playoffs in year 4 of a rebuild. I don't think you can because facts & historical data support everything BA has said. It really is rare that teams 4 years into a rebuild make the playoffs.

It's obvious that you're basing everything you believe on opinion because anyone that has researched it would know you haven't. :naughty:

I had been thinking about this for a while now, and now that Kolyachonok has been lost to a waiver pickup, it seems even more relevant.

All year I have thought that Kolyachonok was a better d-man than Valimaki. I could never quite figure out why Tourigney kept playing Valimaki over Kolaychonok. Am I alone in that thought?
Any time I saw Kolyachonok in action he looked really good. He deserved more opportunity IMO. He'll get that with Pittsburgh.

We won't miss him though. Maatta has been excellent. Cole's steady presence is helping Kesselring. Szuber is ready for a chance. It won't be long before Duda and Simashev are pushing too. Bottom pair LD are a dime a dozen in the NHL. Our abundance of cap lets us play a guy in that slot who earns more than league minimum.
