Exactly...and how did Nash go from 26 goals in 65 games, to 3 goals in 20 playoff games? Is he banged up, or gone Kyle Clifford hands?
It's unbelievable after so many years of frustration and futility.
I've watched all the Rangers games these playoffs... how do people say they have an advantage with speed and LA wont be used to it....when the Hawks are faster. Doesn't make sense. The Rangers aren't really fast imo.
He's become a defensive specialist. When u see him on the PK, don't worry he's not there to score.
Having watched a couple of Rangers games I personally think they are absolutely faster than the Hawks. We'll see in a few days though, I'd be happy to be wrong.
So you have an $8,000,000 defensive specialist who isn't there to score in Nash. Please tell me more... is he up for the Selke?
Edit: Have to say it will be nice to go up against a team pretty much tied with the Ducks in G/Game (playoffs) against defensive power houses like Philly/Pit/MTL (-Price)
Ranger fan coming in peace. First off i think the Kings have a very good team. They are a much tougher opponent than the Hawks. However i think you guys are really underestimating the Rangers. Now i agree that we dont have Kane or Toews BUT we do have 4 good reliable lines that we can roll consistently, have a much better defense and goaltending than the Hawks, and we are a bit fresher right now. Now this is gonna be a tough series for eite team IMO but should be a good one
Blues fan here saying good luck guys. The Rangers will be a lot tougher series than a lot of HF'ers around the boards are giving them credit for. I've been watching them closely since the Pitt series, and they are a danger to score with every line, have great center depth, a **** ton of speed (that's the main thing you guys are going to have a hard time with, gotta contain that speed.) Their Top 4 has been stepping up on O and D, and of course Lundqvist is on a "mission from god."
Anyways, I think this will be a much closer, and tightly contested series then a lot expect, but as long as your boys don't underestimate The NYR I can see them winning in 6. For the love of god don't let it go to Game 7 though, Lundqvist is unstoppable in Game 7's this year.
Im far from being an expert, but it feels wrong that so many fans (not necesserilly Kings fans) think Rangers will be a cakewalk.
First of all any team coming to finals cant be a cakewalk right? Secondly the argument about Rags not playing against any team like Kings goes both ways.. Kings havent met any teams like Rangers neither.. all teams we played against were very strong offensivelly, but Rags are playing defence first. Not to mention that Kings showed lots of weaknesses this year too.
And lastly (and maybe this is just me).. 2014 Rangers feel scarilly similar to 2012 Kings to me. Let me expand a bit on that:
- change of coach. Torts pushing defence first and accountabillity mentality and AV using that system that was in place before him and adding offense and confidence. Same as 2012 Kings.
- adding a small piece of puzzle during the trading window with MSL. Carter for Kings in 2012
- crazy good goalie. Same as Kings in 2012.
- rolling four lines, getting under their opponents skin, underdogs, cup hunger.. etc etc.. all similar to 2012.
Dont get me wrong, im not saying Rangers are Kings, that would be silly, but it looks like a lot of pieces of puzzle that worked for Kings in 2012 work for Rangers this year too.
On top of this is first series in both 2012 and 2014 that Kings have home ice if im not mistaken. I dont think this is actually a good thing. If u go visiting first and u lose both this is not a biggie and u can adapt and still take it all. But less time for adaptation if u drop one or (god forbid) both opening games as a host.
As a Kings fan i obviously still think Kings will win, i just dont think it will be as easy as lots of ppl are saying right now and it wouldnt be a huge upset if Rangers take it all.
P.S.: apologizes in advance if my post above is a bit incoherent. Im on painkillers and im actually not sure if anything i write makes much sense at all.
The Rangers will give the Kings all they can handle simply due to fatigue.
It's CLEAR the Kings are tired. It'll never happen but Quick could use a rest for Game 1. The Rangers are a fast team.
It took a very rested Kings 6 games to dispatch a hobbled Devils team in 2012. This year, while healthy, the Kings are far more gassed. If the Kings can't get their legs under them (and Quick remains as leaky as he was during the WCF), this is going to be a tough series.
