All I hear from Rags is about their speed, top speed in the leauge and King....What king, we have King and that's the D'wight King

Kings in 5. Wanna see boys lift the cup in Staples

So it's you and us, how sweet...can't be more West vs East :)

We played 1-1 in regular, so that doesn't say much.

Here's a tip. You should watch out for our two smurfs, Marty & Zuccarello...our point leaders. They have an amazing speed.

Then you have Kreider of course, the bulldozer.

Should be a great series.

I've watched all the Rangers games these playoffs... how do people say they have an advantage with speed and LA wont be used to it....when the Hawks are faster. Doesn't make sense. The Rangers aren't really fast imo.

Montreal was being given the kudos of being a "fast" team prior to Rangers series. Just ask them how fast we are. Chicago may have more talent up front, but we're every bit as fast and they couldn't shine our skates when it comes to backchecking. Actually, I was hoping for Chicago......now, let's talk about respect.

:sarcasm:

He's become a defensive specialist. When u see him on the PK, don't worry he's not there to score.

So you have an $8,000,000 defensive specialist who isn't there to score in Nash. Please tell me more... is he up for the Selke?

Edit: Have to say it will be nice to go up against a team pretty much tied with the Ducks in G/Game (playoffs) against defensive power houses like Philly/Pit/MTL (-Price)

Having watched a couple of Rangers games I personally think they are absolutely faster than the Hawks. We'll see in a few days though, I'd be happy to be wrong.

Give this man a cigar, and thanks for your honesty. No, I'm not gloating. Seriously. He knows what he's talking about. AV has got this team playing fast, faster than any Nux team he's had.

The Rangers remind of the St. Louis Blues, mediocre offense, good defense and goaltending.

We lost to the Hawks last year because of our lack of offense, this year we won offense vs offense.

If the Rangers hope is to shut down our offense and play shell opportunistic hockey with their mediocre forward group, they will lose 9/10 times.

That's my take on this. They're the least rounded team this post season.

Every team that's tried to out defend us and play like us, has lost.

Phoenix Coyotes, New Jersey Devils, St. Louis Blues twice.

The only teams historically in the recent playoffs are high caliber offensive teams, which the Rangers aren't.

And we have great history with Rangers like teams. So again. This should be our easiest match up.

Ranger fan coming in peace. First off i think the Kings have a very good team. They are a much tougher opponent than the Hawks. However i think you guys are really underestimating the Rangers. Now i agree that we dont have Kane or Toews BUT we do have 4 good reliable lines that we can roll consistently, have a much better defense and goaltending than the Hawks, and we are a bit fresher right now. Now this is gonna be a tough series for eite team IMO but should be a good one

Didn't u notice my :sarcasm: ? My keyboard put it in the wrong place. Lol.

Back to Nash. He def has not been himself since his concussion earlier in the year. He's lost his power game. He's playing good 2 way hockey, but yeah, we didn't spend a cool 8 mil. for him to only score 3 goals. We've gotten "Moore" from Boyler and Moore on 4th line.

The Blues had four reliable lines every time we played them. I would take playing against four reliable lines over Toews and Kane. Getzlaf/Perry. Thornton Marleau Pavelski. We can roll four lines too. That's not an issue, top caliber players are what scare me, and the Rangers don't have that. Which is why I feel quite good.

Rangers fan here, heres to a great series between 2 great teams \o/ (Trophy goes to New York, pretty please)

Blues fan here saying good luck guys. The Rangers will be a lot tougher series than a lot of HF'ers around the boards are giving them credit for. I've been watching them closely since the Pitt series, and they are a danger to score with every line, have great center depth, a **** ton of speed (that's the main thing you guys are going to have a hard time with, gotta contain that speed.) Their Top 4 has been stepping up on O and D, and of course Lundqvist is on a "mission from god."

Anyways, I think this will be a much closer, and tightly contested series then a lot expect, but as long as your boys don't underestimate The NYR I can see them winning in 6. For the love of god don't let it go to Game 7 though, Lundqvist is unstoppable in Game 7's this year.

Don't u remember the kings are 7-0 on elimination games? I'd say they have been unstoppable in those situations...

Im far from being an expert, but it feels wrong that so many fans (not necesserilly Kings fans) think Rangers will be a cakewalk.

First of all any team coming to finals cant be a cakewalk right? Secondly the argument about Rags not playing against any team like Kings goes both ways.. Kings havent met any teams like Rangers neither.. all teams we played against were very strong offensivelly, but Rags are playing defence first. Not to mention that Kings showed lots of weaknesses this year too.

And lastly (and maybe this is just me).. 2014 Rangers feel scarilly similar to 2012 Kings to me. Let me expand a bit on that:
- change of coach. Torts pushing defence first and accountabillity mentality and AV using that system that was in place before him and adding offense and confidence. Same as 2012 Kings.
- adding a small piece of puzzle during the trading window with MSL. Carter for Kings in 2012
- crazy good goalie. Same as Kings in 2012.
- rolling four lines, getting under their opponents skin, underdogs, cup hunger.. etc etc.. all similar to 2012.

Dont get me wrong, im not saying Rangers are Kings, that would be silly, but it looks like a lot of pieces of puzzle that worked for Kings in 2012 work for Rangers this year too.

On top of this is first series in both 2012 and 2014 that Kings have home ice if im not mistaken. I dont think this is actually a good thing. If u go visiting first and u lose both this is not a biggie and u can adapt and still take it all. But less time for adaptation if u drop one or (god forbid) both opening games as a host.

As a Kings fan i obviously still think Kings will win, i just dont think it will be as easy as lots of ppl are saying right now and it wouldnt be a huge upset if Rangers take it all.

P.S.: apologizes in advance if my post above is a bit incoherent. Im on painkillers and im actually not sure if anything i write makes much sense at all :P.

I agree with allot of what you are saying.

I don't think the team will be taking the Rags lightly so we can rest assured on that. Any team with a great goalie is one you have to respect. I am not worried about any aspect of the Rags game with the exception of how very good Hank is and the fact that they have two world class D men and the rest are slightly above average. Nothing special, but slightly better than average.

I think that while there are some great Ranger fans a few of which have come here with respect to discuss the coming series and have some solid fun there are just a flat out ton of dirtbag Rag fans (some who have come here trying to talk garbage) and that is where some of our cockiness is coming from.

Either way this is THE team I wanted to see us meet in the finals out of every team in the Leaster Conference and I am happy for the opportunity to beat them. It will be a tougher series then some of the Kings fans who post here think it will but I cant wait to see the two of us go at it. Beating GB's favorite team and silencing the average Rag fan would be as good as it gets for me.

Here's to a great series that ends with our lifting the cup.

We get one more game of Kenny Albert (yay!). Doc Emrick has to skip it due to a death in the family.

http://awfulannouncing.com/2014/doc-emrick-will-miss-game-1-of-the-stanley-cup-final.html

Albert is heir-apparent to Emrick whenever Emrick retires given Strader's recent demotion, so this gives NBC an opportunity for a dry run with Albert doing a Cup final game, who I thought was fantastic in the Kings series.

This will be a homerism test though as Albert normally calls Rangers games for them on the radio (he's the Rangers' Nick Nickson).

The Rangers will give the Kings all they can handle simply due to fatigue.

It's CLEAR the Kings are tired. It'll never happen but Quick could use a rest for Game 1. The Rangers are a fast team.

It took a very rested Kings 6 games to dispatch a hobbled Devils team in 2012. This year, while healthy, the Kings are far more gassed. If the Kings can't get their legs under them (and Quick remains as leaky as he was during the WCF), this is going to be a tough series.

Gee, I'm not seeing this at all. Of course the team looks gassed after seven games and two OTs. But they will have two full days rest and most of game day before they have to face NYR.

NYR has played only one less game. Sure they are going on six days' rest, but what happened in 2012 really has no bearing on this series. A team doesn't make the SCF unless its very good, and NJD had a great playoff run that year. Of course they gave the Kings trouble.

I am hoping for a short series but its not happening this season. But I'm thinking this goes 6, not 7.

Good luck guys! Random Auf fact: the only hockey trophy I've ever won was for a roller hockey league in El Segundo a couple years ago.

Unfortunately I left my wallet there.

As a Ranger fan since the 1970's, I can assure you no NYR fan is cocky about this series. Most think that we do not match up well with the Kings. We all feel that Lundqvist will have to carry us. Most sensible fans hope we can get to a game 7.

Good luck. The kings give us a challenge, but we are no push overs either. Both teams are here for a reason.

Drop the puck and the team that is better for 4 nights are the champs.
