I agree, but he is not at the level of defending Kopitar and his line.

No doubt. And I agree that he is not at all going to be able to defend Kopitar but too many people here seem to be saying he is not a strong defensive player. He really is. I could count on one hand the centers I think can defend Kopitar well. So even if Boyle is not on that level he is still a solid defensive center. Don't discount that fact, he can shut down. Versus the Kings with their great top 6 he'll be hard pressed but against plenty of teams top 2 lines he will be really solid.

RR for Greene is pretty much a wash imo. RR may have some rust to start the series, but Greene gets into more trouble with penalties than RR does.

Either way, I'll gladly support DS decision.

I don't think Regehr will be placed into the lineup until they lose a game. Rangers are a fast team, maybe Sutter should have Greene and Regehr race a lap around staples for the spot haha

We don't have that amount of time, the game's tomorrow.

Hmmmm call me crazy but I think the Rangers will be tougher then many think they will be. Lundqvist is not going to be Aweford! Gonna be another nail biter series!

I might be too much of a homer and riding the high still of being here, but all the talk about henrik this and henrik that. If The rags couldn't score against teams weak on D, how the hell are people seeing them scoring on the kings? I just see the kings winning every game 4 to 1.

If we disregard the two games these two teams played this year on account that they're now very different from the past meetings. The closest team that resemble the Kings in the east are the Bruins. It would seem that the Bruins swept the Rangers with the last game (since January) played last March (a 6-3 drubbing). Not saying this series will be a sweep but I think NY has the match up problem in this series...

Unless my math is wrong, you played 13+14+1 = 28 games against the West.

Kings played 25+20 = 45 games against the West. I would say 17 games difference is pretty significant.

You beat me to it.
:handclap:

Wait, RR is going to be in?

Nervous time for me. I don't like making changes to the line up when we are winning.

The thing is no Rangers fans seem to be able to respond to me re: evidence.

For a guy that's largely being heralded as a great defensive player (and on a deep team like the Rangers, I'm sure he's good) the advanced stats put him (paraphrasing my quote earlier because I'm too lazy to re: dig all the stats exactly...and I know you guys trust me :P ) at something like the second softest minutes on the Rangers forwards next to screwloose Dorsett, the second most GA/60, etc. , and all that with just about the lowest quality of competition. He gets a lot of defensive zone starts, so obviously they trust him, but between the above issues and his corsi sucks, even if he's a 'specialist,' it's hard to say he's any better at it than Trevor Lewis.

I agree with everything just have a feeling with that underdog label the rags might surprise us. I'm really hoping we tighten up our defense and pound them in their own zone like we usually do. I'm still thinking it's going to be a tough series and anything can happen!

Rangers are a tight group too and may win. We can't believe the hype.

Remember Canucks fans saying "Moen will shut down Kopitar" when we played them.

I'm not worried about him shutting down Kopitar, his advanced stats from this playoffs call into question his ability to shut down anyone. I'm sure it's not as bad as it looks, but if he's only getting deployed in the D-zone, and his corsi sucks, he's rarely getting it out of the D-zone...meaning he may be playing hold-on-for-dear-life prevent defense at a decent rate, but that's hardly what we usually mean when we're talking about a superb defensive player, or even a now-mostly-obsolete John Madden type.

I will say, though, their fourth line at least has a specific role, and Dominic Moore paired with Boyle is probably pretty sweet.

Ah Henrik. The East Coast Hero. I think we hear so much about him because that's the only storyline the Rangers have right now. We are superior in all other areas, what else do they have to be cocky about?

Nothing a couple games of lighting "the King" up and Quick entering superhero mode can't fix.
