Been watching the NYR (nhl) network "media day" coverage and its all Rags all the time and all about what the Rags will do against the Kings.
None of it has been what the Kings are going to do against the Rags or anything about our team having beaten the best team in the league and cup champs from last season to get here. So obvious that there is an NY bias.
Can't wait for this series to start. Cannot wait.
Damnit Burnside!!!

Burnside must have a head injury, he hates the Kings...the only 'experts' I like on that list , who actually knw the game and respecte the Kings are Custance and Buccigross, both are pretty good. When Custance is on ESPN radio he always makes good points on the Kings and on hockey. I've always like Buccigross. I', pretty sure they both picked the Kings at the start of the playoffs, Custance did , I remember hearing him defend his choice on the ESPN podcast.
The Kings for the most part don't get the respect they deserve from National Media. Even when the beat the Hwks, how many of the media output was 'why the Hawks lost?"
And they seemed disappointed that the Kings were moving on and that Kane would go back to wearing sandels and fishing off the Sea of Galilee.
The Rangers are a good team, but the Kings are a better one. THe media can spin all they want, that won't change.
The Kings portion of Media day isn't until 7 PM PST (4 eastern) maybe they'll give the Kings a sniff then.
LeBrun has always been fair to the Kings. The guy knows his stuff and he's a very good sports writer.

LOL at girardi using MTL as a comparison to us when it comes to facing competition. Also the lack of character on the Rags shines through when NONE of them acknowledge that their series against the Habs would have been significantly different if Price wasn't taken out Bruce Lee style early on in game 1.
F the Rags.
GO KINGS GO!!!
All too true.
The Kings are next up and will get their coverage but when you watch the NYR network V TSN as you already know the coverage is always just so slanted towards the Rags on one and the other actually covers hockey.
I love the Kane comment btw, got a laugh out of that but the funniest part is that it is also sort of true if you follow them. Lost in the shuffle is that MG had more goals more assists and a much better series overall then PK.
We get covered begrudgingly and complimented by the media in the same manner that people compliment their opponents. It is never from the perspective of how great we are or how amazing it is that the Kings have won 2 of the last 3 WCF's.
So this series is what I have been saying all along, the NHL V the Kings. When it comes to the Rags they are easily the NHL's poster team and the fact that they are in the finals is giving the league a chance to show their bias.
I expect us to be penalized 3 to 1 over the Rags by the time this series is over but we have the talent the balance and the depth to be able to win this series so long as the Rags don't take out Quick accidentally on purpose early on.
Meh, I am ready for us to start.
Not sure it will be quite that lopsided. But we have been called for 97 minors so far and they have been called for 83. So just by those numbers they should end up with a few more PP chances.
What I am more worried about is the calls if someone like Muzzin hits St. Louis. There is five inches difference and going in with a shoulder could smack him right in the face. And if he is going low it could be right on an elbow. And we know our guys finish their checks.
Well as far as I know, the Kings haven't started their interviews yet, they got team by team, so once NYR are done, the Kings will come out and I'm sure everything will be directed towards them and talking about what they can do.
I think you missed the post where I said that the Kings come up next but thanks for posting this.

Guys, I know that neither team has won anything yet, but just going on the assumption that the Kings do win the Cup. I have a question: If someone said to you half way through the 2012 Season that the Kings will win two of the next 3 Cups, what would your response have been?
Friendly question there, boys.
Would've said you were nuckin' futs.
ACcording to the main boards, boyle is now a stud in his own zone and will get get time against kopi if the rags have a lead. they are even calling him elite defensively. Never thought I would see the day.....

I've pretty much given up, don't know why I torture myself.
"look at the stats, it's not even close!"
*Doty posts stats.* "look at the stats, they ARE close."
"...stats don't prove anything, I've watched him."
*Doty posts usage data.* "check it out, this stat actually proves the eye test anecdotal evidence wrong."
"lol you don't even watch the games. you can't quantify everything."
*Doty*: "didn't you say to look at the stats? ...relatedly, Jonathan Quick is amazing by the eye test but not the stats, wouldn't you agree?"
*Board explodes.*
Acts I, II, III, IV, and V of everything that's happened since Saturday, just pick a King vs. a Ranger and the above script fits to a T. Quick vs. Lundqvist, Kopitar vs ****ing Stepan, apparently now Brian Boyle is John Madden, etc.
I get the need to pump your guy, but come on. It reminds me of when we were arguing that Lundqvist having more wins in 2012 was a team stat, because back then it was important...now the team argument is magically invalid. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.
