It is what it is. The Rangers didn't lay down like some other franchises did. They pretty much outhustled a much more talented team tonight. The price for that will be draft positioning unless we get real lucky and win one of the three lotteries. It's funny in a way though. The team has grit and pride.
Ah yes the difference between pride and success. Not that they’re mutually exclusive. But this team has shown a ton more of the former and not nearly enough of the latter.

For that you get a purple ribbon in life.

Shatty Vesey Namestnikov all goners. That team with improved play from the kids is a very possible playoff team not a bottom team.

#10 pick here we come! even if that team somehow snuck into the playoffs, which I doubt they could, they would be whipped in a round.

Full disclosure here. When Strome scored the OT winner I jumped out of my seat at the pub and took every opportunity I could to rub it in Penguins fans faces. That was fun!

Celebrating after a Ranger win against a hated division rival no matter how meaningless in the standings? There is no need for that here. Negativity, despair, hysteria is more like it.

When was the letter sent?

Thats your starting point.
Actions > words. Just because the front office hadn’t officially announced it doesn't mean that wasn't the plan, but i do understand your point. Even if we use your metric its been two years then. We sent the letter and collected assets + 2 1st rounders (possibly 1 more) and this year have done the same.

I went from 80/20 keeping him, to 70/30 to 50/50.

Right now, I think I’ve probably dropped below the 50 percent mark.

Still 70/30 or so. Can’t fault him for injuries (blood clot is an injury???) and his frame and type of game just not something that suggests more injuries in the future.

Otherwise I’m definitely for keeping him if no adequate replacement is brought back where cap cost is prohibitive to keeping both.

He was full of anger skating to the box. He was yelling back at the ref, and I remember thinking, he's got a pair for talking back. Rookies are usually quiet till they get acclimated with the officials around the league.

I don’t fault him, and more or less accept him for what he is.

There’s just that growing feeling in me that this is probably the peak, and through no fault of his own, I do wonder if the injuries or freak incidents will become a bigger concern as we move forward on a 5, 6, or 7 year deal.

Either way, my hope is the Rangers have a clear idea of what they are doing with Kreider.

If he’s staying, fine. But let’s get it done and remove the mystery. If they plan to move him, my desire would be to move him sooner rather than later. In Kreider’s case, I’m not sure there’s a huge difference between his return in June compared to February.

So if we’re going to move him, hopefully there is an opportunity to do it in a shorter timeframe.

He is a case of an overflow of riches. He's got so much raw physical gifts that he can't really play going full tilt, or he'd likely injure someone or go to the box every shift. He's kind of forced to put himself in some kind of cruise control. It's too bad that he doesn't have a consistent sniper shot to go with the rest of his skill set.
