Oh we ruin plenty of players.

It's usually Forwards though.

But anyway, i don't really buy that Nashville really "ruined" Fabbro tbh. He was just never really that good. He's remarkably unremarkable and only really stood out as a prospect because of the level of competition. Same deal as Jost on that same Penticton team. Just hasn't had the tools and mentality to be a dynamic player at the NHL level.

But he still came out as a fairly decent NHLer with a significantly longer than average career, which is still going. So i'd hardly call that "ruined".

Jesus Christ Trotz. WTF :ha::huh::mad::madfire::banghead::rant:

This stupid team. Enjoy the next Tolvanen San Jose.
Different. Tolvanen was in his first yr of waiver eligible for y and therr is that unwritten rule of claiming players....

Wow what happened to him?
Hr hasnt bern that great for years. He did well playing with Josi.

I thought he wasnt going to get a QO in last RFA time

The Trotz that keeps on Trotzing

As good of a coach as he was his management reminds me of Tampa's "ruthless and brilliant" rebuild under Koules and Barrie, minus getting a Stamkos or a Hedman out of it.

You're not wrong, but they weren't a fan of the 8 dman and 3 goalie rotation last year so I doubt they go back to it. Maybe they send down Struble/Xhekaj but I don't think they gave up on Barron already given how they extended him for 2 years instead of 1.
Meh, we've already seen injuries on the back end and also don't think seeing any of Xhekaj (actually thought he had to clear waivers until now), Struble or even Hutson playing some games at the AHL level this year would be bad for them or the team. Makes it easier to move Savard when the time comes as well. To me it's kind of a no brainer if they get the chance, there's more than a few guys who aren't exactly solidifying their case to be everyday players at the moment

I think the 2.5M cap hit is going to make it difficult to claim for a lot of teams.

As an Oiler fan it’s a good fit but pretty much impossible cap wise
Can't Oilers claim him and then put him back on waivers when Kane is ready to return?

Peres fans, is this an overreaction due to previous potential, or is this something you aren’t happy about?

Yup. But if he’s not claimed then they can only bury 1.2 mil of his cap in the minors, so they’d still count 1.3.

Claiming Fabbro and sending down Hutson as a result should be a fireable offense.

Grier is going to rebuild his entire 7 man d-core in the first half of the season. Ceci, Liljgren, Fabbro… who’s next? Maybe Trouba will finally waive.
Don't forget they got paid picks for taking Walman and playing him on their 1st pair.

The Habs may want another vet on defense to help Savard with the kids.

zero chance San Jose passes on him, Grier inquired about trading for him at the draft.

I think a lot of Sharks fans would like to see a claim here, because Rutta has been brutal especially paired with Ferraro... But, with the Lily trade and Jack Thompson looking pretty good as a rookie, claiming Fabbro would create a logjam of mediocre to below average D men on the right side (Ceci, Liljegren, Fabbro, Rutta, Thompson, Vlasic). So the only way out of that is sending Thompson back down even though he's looking decent, or waiving Rutta even though "he's a tall, physical vet who has won a cup", and either way you've got two RD in the press box even in that situation (once Vlasic is healthy).

So it may be that Grier had a choice between Lily and Fabbro and chose Lily, leading to Fabbro on waivers and not claimed by SJ. we'll see.
Vlasic is definitely a LHD. Rutta is expendable. Thompson is unproven.

This would "fix" any real questions about having NHL calibre d-men. Obviously not a good defence still, but at least not a defence made up of journeymen.
