Dang. Jarnkrok from what I've seen is a very reliable guy. 2mil is great value for now, and if he gets better( which is possible) that could be a great deal.

His agent should be fired....

Ha, this was my first thought as well. Practically agent malpractice allowing your client to lock himself in at that AAV for the entirety of his prime.

But at the end of the day, if the Client wants to sign. Not much you can do.

What will we ever do without superstar Calle freaking Jarnkrok?

If you haven't noticed, the Red Wings have legitimate problems that don't revolve around a complimentary player.

Death by a 1000 cuts. Same was said about dave nonis losing colborne, although the wings are much better.

We can't even get AA or Mantha, not to mention Jurco and Pullky into the lineup. Yea, Helm's deal is ******** and Holland has made some questionable decisions, but even then there wouldn't be much room for Calle.

Wow, like everyone else here I am surprised to see that kind of term on a deal of that dollar value. Jarnkrok must see himself as a 3rd liner going forward, and if that's the case, no harm in setting yourself up for job security for the next 6 years.

There are plenty of moves you would want to consider detrimental to the Red Wings future before you look at the trade of Calle Jarnkrok, especially considering the relationship Jarnkrok had with Detroit prior to the trade, anyway.

Yeah and weren't the rumor that Jarnkrok was planning to head back to Sweden if he either couldn't break into the lineup soon enough or get a chance somewhere else?

Both he and Janmark threatened to return to Sweden before we traded them.

Yes, that's why he was traded. The Red Wings move players who don't want to develop through their system. It's the same reason Janmark is playing in Dallas right now.

Definitely the most interesting contract I've seen in awhile. Clearly Jarnkrok values job security and stability. Smart move, I can imagine how much turmoil average players go through in their lives as they get traded over and over again or fight for contracts in July.

This guy can now plant roots and play hockey without much fanfare.

Jarnkrok is a really good young player and it takes him into his early 30's, I can see why he wanted the stability with that term. He likes it in Nashville, and they like him.

lewl Jarnkrok has low expectations for himself, he also needs to fire his agent ASAP.

How on earth does a young player who just racked up 30 points pigeon hole himself into that contract? That's awful.

1) Player loves his current situation. Loves the City/Coaches/ and lives next door to Forsberg. (notice that both FF and Jarnkrok's deals are 6 years)
2) Player is not looking for a big pay day and would prefer to stay where he's at
3) Player is smart (he has been called the smartest player on the team) and realizes that sometimes it is better for all parties involved to go a route like this (player gets long term stability, team gets a contract that's easy on the cap to help with a deep run for many years).
