Post-Game Talk: Now what? Predators 6 Bruins 3

A LOT of offensive talent left and was never replaced

That 2022-23 team had the best goals against in the league by a mile. 36 less goals than any other team. Yes, Ullmark had maybe the best regular season ever for a Bruins goalie. Even though Grzelcyk, Clifton and Forbert were on that backend.

Three of the top four scorers on that team are still here. Maybe the coaching was better than we all thought that magic season.

Times have changed, the true fans in all sports, have been priced out.
Most here know where we sit.

The first years I had my ST, the front row (on the glass) had guys that had sat there since the old Garden. Some of them were a little rough around the edge but knew the game of hockey and were a blast to chat with. They were priced out.:(

The two seats in front of us (right next to the bench...my favorite seats at the Garden) still have the same owner. He used to go to all of the games but now sells most. When he used to come, he brought all 4 kids, and they all sat in 2 seats...they were little. We didn't see him for a few years. He has purchased the two seats next to us. He has come to a few games this season and was there last night. His son and daughter come now but are adults now.

There is a lady whose family has had Bs seats for all 100 years who sit in the front row in the 2 aisle seats. She comes to some games. She is nice.

The other 6 seats are owned by an insurance company. Some folks that come are OK but then there are the pink hats who just want to drink and get on the jumbotron. I miss the guys who were a bit rough but were fun and knew hockey.

There were 8 seats in my section (it is split in half by the tunnel where the Bs come out)...Now there are 10. Seats are smaller.

sigh...Sometimes I miss the old days (quite often now...not just hockey) but our first few years the team was pretty bad.

anyway....I will always be a Bs fan but it is more fun when they win

The NHL right now is so watered down with too many teams. Add the fact your drafting 18 year olds and it makes a rebuild very perilous. Boston is in a spot that they have an opportunity to do essentially a one month tank to hopefully grab a promising top 6 center at the draft and hopefully add another 1st Round pick.

If the opportunity presents itself and clear out the roster (Coyle) maybe try look at poaching an RFA.
Agreed. Prime example 4 nations. The hockey was fast and exciting. When you have more talent on a team there is less slogging with grinders. I hope they do not expand anymore. It’s watering down the overall product

I believe the 'watering down' ship has already sailed. But the other 3 major team sports are suffering the same state of too many teams and not enough real talent.
It's all about quantity of the money over quality of the product.

I haven't read through all of the crap in the GDT or this one, but did they show the fan in the third period who came down to the glass right near Sway (who was at the bench for a commercial break) ...really pounded on the glass hard and was swearing at Sway? The fan was out of line and got tossed.

It was right in front of us and the fan was very threatening and out of control. All of the Bs were glaring at him. Sway laughed it off but not sure how he really felt.
Swayman reaping what he sowed all offseason.

If Marchand is traded it might break this team to the point of not winning another game this season
You know what....some might be stubborn and say he'll never be traded, which also included me.
Now.... I wouldn't be surprised if he was. This according to my Spider-sense. It's tingling a bit but not to the point Doctor Octopus is just around the corner tingling.
But something's there.
Or it could be a bit of gas.

Many years ago we use to buy like 5 games at a time we eventually worked our way up section 105 in front of the beer stand, and we went to almost every game, but for some reason, we were not able to go on a Saturday night, and a fight broke out, after that no one could stand there before the game started, well that worked out well for us because when the game started we would be waved over to the screen in front of the beer stand, and that was like having season tickets every game, was awesome, great memories.

The coaching is not the best but man o man this roster is bad.No top line centre is a complete dagger and D men that constantly are injured .It's time for big changes top to bottom.

Merk looked lost last night.
Always getting knocked off the puck, looked scared to get his nose dirty and go into the corners.
Lacks break away speed.
If he is 5'11" I must be 6'4 ( I am really 6'1).
I would send him back down, he is not an NHL player.
Yet better then Beecher ..Seriously, there are lots of AHL players here .Don Sweeney is out to lunch .

Who remembers:

"We aren't celebrating enough!"

I swear after that thread, our franchise tanked. We lost to Florida in horrible fashion, and we're on the way to a lotto pick now. Amazing.
This situation was always a possibility when they did what seemed like 5 years straight of the "one last run" and kicking the can down the road. The bill always come due especially in a hard, flat cap league.

Teams can play LTIR games sometimes, but more often than not the talent just ages away and new blood is needed.

The tank is necessary. Take advantage of the opportunity while it's here. Who knows, maybe they can come right back next October right back in the mix with a healthy top pair and a fresh start for Swayman. I really do think if they can get their hands on one of the top 5 centers in this draft the future changes a lot for this team.

No d-man going down but one on his way- up.

The things that make you go Hmmm
They only had 6 d on the roster. I know it’s that time of year, but bringing up an extra forward and d before going on a road trip isn’t enough to get me to think something big is on its way.
I might just be a wet blanket though.

Multiple STH I know are finally considering jumping off the train, now that the team is horrendous and they still have the audacity to raise prices.

I want this team to SUFFER financially until major changes are made.

It worked the last time this team needed a thorough housecleaning and it will work again- the Jacobses are all about the $ and they'll get the message if their wallet is hit hard enough.

Sweeney and Neely need to be fired ASAP
Neely won't be fired.
I see Management giving Sweeney one more year to steer the ship around.

I can see Oesterle and Wotherspoon as trade chips for draft picks ( 4th or 5th rounder) for a playoff team needing depth on dee.
We all know a team needs 8 NHL dee to make a long run in the playoffs.
