For the last few years many were saying the Bs were toast and wouldn't make the playoffs. They played better than most thought they would until this season. Basically, as a fan base, we have been spoiled until now. I hope the Bs recovery won't take as long as the Habs and Buffalo has.Been a Bruins fan for many years, since the days of Bobby (and Dallas Smith!). Must say I don’t think I’ve ever felt so emotionally disengaged. I just don’t like the effort I’m seeing from this year’s team. It makes me lose interest, and that makes me mad. I want them to go 0-20 (or whatever the remaining # of games is) for the draft position, but don’t want to watch them play anymore (but still do!). Thankfully, my 2nd team, Winnipeg is playing really well. For the Bruins, I’m in the fire management and coaching staff (except Essensa) camp, but would also try to move a lot of the players. But not Zadorov, who I think will make a solid Bruin. Hoping for a better team effort next year.
I will be going to the last home games and watch the away games but have low expectations.
The D has been not so good all season and having your top players out has not helped, BUT even when they were playing, they were not enough. I hope Hampus and Mac are healthy at the start of next season.
Sway got off to a late start and is now one of the highest paid net minders in the NHL. Not all his fault BUT he needs to steal a few here and there. Korpi has been a decent backup. Sway better have thick skin because some of the fans at the games are starting to get on him.
E Lindholm didn't work out like everyone hoped he would. It would be hard to get rid of him so maybe he will have a better season next year.
Pasta (once he got past some injury, he was nursing) has been unreal. His whole game is getting better, and his leadership is still growing. He has come a long way from the skinny kid who didn't speak English very well and is now a clear leader on the team.
Matty P. and Mason L. both are still green but show lots of potential and have been fun to watch other than worrying about Matty getting injured.
Brad is an excellent captain and even though he isn't the player he once was, is still better than most on the ice. No one works more than Brad every shift. This season there are fewer leaders than I have seen in years. Brad, Pasta, Charlie C and Mac...Previously there have been more guys that even though they were not wearing a letter were leaders. I will not be pleased if Brad isn't signed. He has said he wants to stay and has always taken less $$ than he could have gotten elsewhere to stay in Boston. He brings SO much to this team.
I hope the Bs get the needed help before next season and also feel the coaching staff needs to be looked at. I am not saying they all need to go BUT something hasn't been working right. I KNOW some of the players have been frustrated with some of the coaches.
None of the players want to lose. They do care as anyone playing at this level is very competitive. Some care more then others perhaps but they all want to win.
sigh....#1 on my bucket list is to see the Bs win the cup on home ice while I can still get myself to the games. Time is running out
