Post-Game Talk: Now what? Predators 6 Bruins 3

Been a Bruins fan for many years, since the days of Bobby (and Dallas Smith!). Must say I don’t think I’ve ever felt so emotionally disengaged. I just don’t like the effort I’m seeing from this year’s team. It makes me lose interest, and that makes me mad. I want them to go 0-20 (or whatever the remaining # of games is) for the draft position, but don’t want to watch them play anymore (but still do!). Thankfully, my 2nd team, Winnipeg is playing really well. For the Bruins, I’m in the fire management and coaching staff (except Essensa) camp, but would also try to move a lot of the players. But not Zadorov, who I think will make a solid Bruin. Hoping for a better team effort next year.
For the last few years many were saying the Bs were toast and wouldn't make the playoffs. They played better than most thought they would until this season. Basically, as a fan base, we have been spoiled until now. I hope the Bs recovery won't take as long as the Habs and Buffalo has.

I will be going to the last home games and watch the away games but have low expectations.

The D has been not so good all season and having your top players out has not helped, BUT even when they were playing, they were not enough. I hope Hampus and Mac are healthy at the start of next season.

Sway got off to a late start and is now one of the highest paid net minders in the NHL. Not all his fault BUT he needs to steal a few here and there. Korpi has been a decent backup. Sway better have thick skin because some of the fans at the games are starting to get on him.

E Lindholm didn't work out like everyone hoped he would. It would be hard to get rid of him so maybe he will have a better season next year.

Pasta (once he got past some injury, he was nursing) has been unreal. His whole game is getting better, and his leadership is still growing. He has come a long way from the skinny kid who didn't speak English very well and is now a clear leader on the team.

Matty P. and Mason L. both are still green but show lots of potential and have been fun to watch other than worrying about Matty getting injured.

Brad is an excellent captain and even though he isn't the player he once was, is still better than most on the ice. No one works more than Brad every shift. This season there are fewer leaders than I have seen in years. Brad, Pasta, Charlie C and Mac...Previously there have been more guys that even though they were not wearing a letter were leaders. I will not be pleased if Brad isn't signed. He has said he wants to stay and has always taken less $$ than he could have gotten elsewhere to stay in Boston. He brings SO much to this team.

I hope the Bs get the needed help before next season and also feel the coaching staff needs to be looked at. I am not saying they all need to go BUT something hasn't been working right. I KNOW some of the players have been frustrated with some of the coaches.

None of the players want to lose. They do care as anyone playing at this level is very competitive. Some care more then others perhaps but they all want to win.

sigh....#1 on my bucket list is to see the Bs win the cup on home ice while I can still get myself to the games. Time is running out :(

This popped up on Facebook and I thought it was a Babylon Bee article.

“I think they’re kind of built for the playoffs,” Recchi told NESN.com. “They got bigger. They got stronger. They got some sizing and a little more depth in the middle, bringing in (Elias) Lindholm. If they get in, they could be tough.”

I see Dr. Recchi's been helping himself to the hallucinigens in his medical bag 💉

Oh oh oh I got one....A bad pizza.
It's delivered, it's cold, it looks like crap.(Little Caesar)
But your hungry, so you endure 3 periods....I mean 3 slices.
Instant regret.
Bruins are more like Taco Bell. You forget about the last time you ate it, it’s good going down, but a couple hours later you regret eating it and swear you’ll never eat it again. Rinse and repeat.

This is part of fandom. I remember the Roy-Stumpel-Wilson line. I remember the rebuild with the Caps kids and Jumbo Joe, they was a fun time even though it never paid off. Zach Hamill. 2015 draft. There are reload times and they are in one. They are better off then they were in 96-97. The draft picks will be exciting for draft talk start of June.

I'll just say it again, you HAVE to win when you are there or elite. 2019 and 2023 are just going to haunt us for a long time with the what could have been. 2020 was another one, but through no fault of anyone's they came up short, understandably.

And they were back in the playoffs the next season.

There are more terrible fans of late.

A sign of the times.

I love the Bruins but I don't like this edition at all. I don't know why but overall they're just not a likeable bunch. I'll keep tuning in except for the West coast games although I'll probably watch the SJ game. Why? Because I'm a fan and that's what I do. I've watched some stunningly bad Bruins teams so it isn't like this is a new experience. I just wish I liked them more than I do because it would make watching them play a lot more fun.

Fortunately my fellow GDTers have been bringing the laughs lately, this place was hilarious last night. I think it shows that as much as we love the Bruins we have a good sense of proportion & know this isn't the end of the world.

Let's go, Bruins!!!

The NHL right now is so watered down with too many teams. Add the fact your drafting 18 year olds and it makes a rebuild very perilous. Boston is in a spot that they have an opportunity to do essentially a one month tank to hopefully grab a promising top 6 center at the draft and hopefully add another 1st Round pick.

If the opportunity presents itself and clear out the roster (Coyle) maybe try look at poaching an RFA.

It was bound to come down to a year like the Bruins are having. First of all trading away draft picks for many years to acquire older experienced players for a cup run. Drafting has been just terrible with the missed opportunities for true NHL caliber players. Signing FAs has been a real sour point with players who were never real great, misjudging talent and spending a way too much for limited value. Judgement has not been one of his traits.

This team needs a real infusion of talent and this is going to be a daunting task to fulfill.

Do not worry SWEENEY WIĹL WASTE ANOTHER DRAFT OPPORTUNITY TO PICK A REAL POTENTIAL NHL QUALITY PLAYER. I have no faith in his ability to turn this mess into something positive. Nada.

We are! (although not sure if can claim “right minds”:sarcasm:) because we are fans who are realistic about the swings in talent and winning/losing over the long arc not just year to year….60+ years of being dedicated Bruins fans, we will hang in:popcorn:

I admire that.

We got out mostly because of what @Fenway stated about the Bruins treating their STH's like dogshit. Our tickets were our biggest monthly expense after our mortgage. It just wasn't worth it for us anymore.

I'd be totally shocked if that were to be the case. This season has been just a $hit show from the start...... Starting with having way to many 3rd -4th liners that Pasta and Marchand have been anchored with, injuries on the back-end, a subpar Swayman you get a DNQ.

Im pretty confident with the right moves in FA and some shrewd trades they'll be back as soon as next year competing in the playoffs. Although I would like to see a change at the position which is most responsible for this $hit show taking place, as I don't have much faith in Sweeney, but I think it'll take another DNQ.
The concerning things are how serious is Hampus Lindholm's kneecap injury?
Will it diminish him significantly? Will #73 ever be able to play with physicality again? Will those injuries play any part in their drafting if lottery balls fall their way?

I think the potential is there for a 2 year DNQ.

First line of Geekie-Zacha-Pasta was on the ice for 2/3 of the Bruins goals. Unfortunately, they were on for 2/3 of the Preds goals too.

Nashville defensemen credited with 4 giveaways total. Bruins D credited with 13. Lohrei with 4 himself.

Somehow Koepke is still a +7, 2nd only to Zadorov (+14). Early season linemates Kastelic (-2) and Beecher (-7) haven't been as lucky. Beecher now in the bottom 5 of plus/minus.

Lindholm won 14 of 18 faceoffs. Lot of good that did.

4th line of Viel-Beecher-Kastelic had 13 hits, one shot on goal.

Lohrei is third on the team for both giveaways (82) and takeaways (31). Leads all Bruins dmen in scoring (28 points) and leads all Bruins for worst plus/minus (-19). The definition of young defenseman with high potential.

STH were defiantly treated better 23 years ago when I first got the seats, but there were only 3000 STH then and the Bs were worse than they are now. I know folks who are still on the wait list for ST so they can do what they want. It isn't just the Bruins or hockey where this happens. Supply/ demand.

It is the only sport I follow, and I love our seats. We are always able to sell any games we do not go to and usually for more than we pay.

Because of cost and my age (driving to and from NH) there will come a time when I can no longer go. Because of the cost we will be selling (for as much as we can get) more games next season.

The games have been pretty enjoyable for the most part for the last 14 years (except this season).

I don't blame folks for not going now.

Yep. He will only improve and has been one of the most fun players to watch this season
