Post-Game Talk: Nothing Out of Something

People are going to have a hissy fit about this, but fox's nmc doesn't kick in until this summer. I've had enough of his soft ass slow shit hockey that gets worse as he gets older. People target Mika and he has earned it, but fox is just as representative of the issues of this team. Lazy lazy lazy and he shows he "can" do it when he wants to, which makes this even more of an issue. It's not a lack of ability, it's about a lack of effort from fox. So sick of it
There was a spot in the 3rd where it got reversed to him on the wall 2 on 2 and instead of getting pinned against the wall gently or whatever he just threw the puck away softly to no one behind his net.

Because he couldn't be bothered having a board battle.

He's part of the problem.

Maybe Fox isn't quite as good this year as when he won the Norris in 2021, or when he should have won his second one in 2023, because, I don't know, variance is a thing?

Nothing is drastically different at all. People are just noticing little things because they're looking for them.

This board just isn't happy unless they hate the team's best players.

The vitriol against Kreider was always disproportionate, especially in his younger day. Zibanejad definitely sucks now but he was hated here even back when he was adored by mainstream Rangers fans. Panarin is fine when he puts up 3 points but he's right under the bus as soon as he does anything but.

People had entire personalities back in the day based on hating Nash. Ditto Gaborik, and in fact, people left the board when Gaborik was traded because their gimmick was over.

I get that the team has been disappointing over the years and that our best players haven't been Connor McDavid, especially the forwards, but like, it's not their fault.

And Fox is particularly weird because who's better than Fox? Maybe two guys? And if you say McAvoy, nobody is taking you seriously. They might not say it, so I will.

Before that could we get the guy a partner who is better than Lindgren?
It's astonishing how little this is mentioned as far as league wide context.

Makar has had a top 15 defenseman in the world as his partner his whole career. Quinn Hughes gets a legitimate top 4 partner and ascends to the top tier himself.

Fox plays AT WORST like a top 10 defenseman in the world with ryan lindgren literally deteriorating next to him on a shit-by-shift basis.

He should go full Quinn on them and be completely honest like he's talking to peers. Drop the coach speak. What are they gonna do, play shittier? How?

Problem is he's also to blame.

Should have called a TO when they either tied it or got the lead, should have yanked Quick. He likes to pull the goalie even when we don't have full possesion of the puck in the offensive zone.

The bar is giving a visibly honest effort. It's not that f***ing high. We're not annoyed at random games where the team doesn't have it, goalie sucked, they had the flu, etc and no one has patience.

This is constant. They are *visibly* getting outworked nearly every game this year. Miss me with whatever this is.

Caveat: I only watched the 3rd.

Simply put, until the team commits to playing a more physical style where we finish checks and eliminate sticks and bodies from dangerous areas we're just not going to go anywhere. It's like treating every game like a preseason game. Physical softness, leads to mental softness. Then we look disjointed, disconnected. We can't handle pucks, we're going in the wrong direction, etc.

This is a reaction to shooting/save percentage which it literally always is.

"Effort" is a scapegoat for "the other team scored more goals."

That's an enormous caveat LMAO

calling out the boards vitriol while nursing your own hateboner for miller, kakko, cuylle (before this year). nice one.

btw cuylle had a terrible game today. here's the thing: he's a young player. it happens. maybe he was out late with some hunnies last night. part of the progress.

rangers played well enough to win. we've had plenty of moral losses, this was the opposite. more of this type of play please.

This is exactly why when all people do is shit on lindgren I get sick of it. Fox is not easy to play with and he bails on plays and puts partners in bad spots all the time. He also does nothing to help defensively. Lindgren is not a stud and he deserves criticism, but he also gets hammered all the time for fox's bullshit laziness bc lindgren doesn't have the ability to make up for it. Fox is the golden boy and that's part of the issue. No one will objectively criticize him. Shit people keep giving him a pass for his skating bc of the knee injury, and yet when trouba gets shipped out suddenly fox is skating like he did his rookie year without any issues..... Then he goes back to being a lazy lazy hockey player. Get his ass out of here. Would trade him for Brady or stutzle (if nyr sees him as a center).
