So Saginaw gets Bloom for free and gets to trade the OA he displaces. Can't say that I see this happening if the roles were reversed.

NB doesn't have a role to play in this. Not since they waived Bloom in November.

The only reason Saginaw had this option is because they are the host, yes.

And if they waived Zito instead, Bloom would've wasted away in the ECHL this year. The OA player rights cap kinda only benefits the competitive teams considering it allows them to add skill players out of thin air. Hard to see an NHL prospect willing to do the same thing in a Northern market.

Nah, Abbottsford likely still sends him back, after arranging for NB to trade his rights to Saginaw.

Why would Saginaw pay that premium though? The OA player rights cap only serves to benefit the small handful of teams these prospects would be willing to report to.

Why would a team release an NHL prospect otherwise?

Because they have to get to 4 OAs by mid November.
Which is dumb. What's the purpose of that if it allows a competitive team to pluck one of your former players for free?

This happens so infrequently, but it's something that creates a competitive advantage.

Kostuch not on the game sheet tonight. Looks like he is the piece going back to Sarnia…

Cajkovic likely following him since he isn’t on the sheet either. Not sure about Amidovski but he is a scratch.

This is a one off. I wouldn’t look at it any differently than that.
I agree that it's a one-off. It doesn't make it any less bullshit.

What's the purpose of the OA cap if you're still only playing three in a game? This oft-used loophole allowed a Memorial Cup host to add a 21 year-old point-per-game player for free.

It is more about opening opportunities for the players. Every rule to help ensure teams aren’t unnecessarily stockpiling OA’s opens up the opportunity for abuse in the reverse.

Cause he’s underachieved ever since he left Saginaw the first time

He would've been our top LW this season with little competition. Even underachieving last season he was a point per game forward. Compare him to Arnsby, who is legitimately unachievable in his overage year.

Signed NHL prospect vs unsigned. Not that Bloom is breaking any doors down this year. But he's a top line scorer in junior.

What is going on with Zito? Is he hurt? Waiting for trade ?
Personal issues from what's been discussed.

.5 PPG in the playoffs. Bumped to the third line. Playoff Bloom was AWOL

I remember. We have a guy on our roster this year who was an even bigger dud in the playoffs. Having himself a decent OA season for himself.
The hand of Ertel obviously had not healed. He was just not able to handle the puck the way he did prior to broken bones and the way he is this season.
Zito was probably never really healthy either seeming to miss a game or two every four or five games.
