I may be over estimating the potential of a back end together for a third season that includes ViVincentis, Nelson, Mathurin, Christopolous, Lukin, Kennedy, …the battalion may never replicate that. I would not be surprised if the only pick replacements come from trading Hislop pre-season and Fantili not showing.
That does not mean I underestimate the impact of graduations at forward :) Having traded Outwater & Sima, it will be four years before the Battalion can replace the age, size, and skill of Petrov, Ertel, Jackson, & MacDonald.
Assuming the ask of Nelson is a first rounder ++ like most high end rentals usually clock in at, I'd suggest it's closer to three. Likely four to be in the conversation for a Conference title.

I don't expect North Bay to miss the playoffs next season. Even with a total sell off. There's a deep enough base that they can still be middle of the pack. There's a pretty significant group of '04s, but it completely lacks the high-end offense required to be successful in the playoffs. It wouldn't make sense to pass up the ability to reload the majority of the draft capital spent.

It’s far off, we will see how things go. While offers for Nelson + would be enticing, I think the battalion will be both good and not so concerned with getting back everything spent in one year at expense of 2-3’rounds of playoffs if there for the taking.

Any updates on injuries? Someone mentioned earlier that Mathurin was having surgery...has this happened? MacDonald? Petrov?

And now Divencentiis is out for a week! #1 goalie, #2 & #3 D, #1 RW are out, and top scorer questionable....Ottawa could put up a dozen goals tomorrow.

Notes from Wednesday’s workout:

Matvey Petrov was on the ice, took part in skating and passing, didn’t look like he could manage much of a shot.

The other 3 injured skaters were not in evidence on the ice or in the building.

How does GM Adam Dennis handle this? It is probably not realistic to suggest the team can maintain their spot in the standings. How low do we go before GM tries to add via trade, or does he simply wait for recovered players to work their way back into the lineup?

It might be a good time to acquire a solid BUG if available. Otherwise, gotta wait for the all-stars; some unexpected team will sell. Maybe DelMastro becomes available.

No shot. Last year of Del Mastro, Hardie, DelBelBelluz, Schwindt, Larsen. They're not selling

Certainly not likely. But unless certain it’s Beck’s last season, there is a shot. Miss makes NB & Peterborough appear pick rich.
There is a shot DelMastro is paired with Clarke who has been sitting at 9 NHL games played for 5 weeks.

Can someone at the game provide info on the misconduct. I imagine one was for shooting the puck into the stands after the whistle blew or did he fire it a a NB player? The other for taking the NB player during the fight.

Thanks I'll hang up and listen

Watched tv feed.
I don’t think there was any replay of the puck out of play, so I cannot comment. The other was two gloves gripping a hockey stick under the face shield.

I was online feed as well, broadcasters referenced the first one as “you can never fire a puck into the stands after play”

And then the second one was instigator with added cross check into face

Ertel had the puck on the blade of his stick after the whistle blew. #2 then lifted his stick in an aggressive fashion which led to the puck going over the glass

They said helmet violation on the second one, perhaps because he was the aggressor while wearing a full cage?

Looking forward to a game where everyone is completely healthy and hungry for points - that might be a while.

It was interesting to watch the replays of the disallowed goal. The ruling was a hand pass occurred. In front of the net OVS fell and his right hand pushed the puck a short distance. OTT’s #18 took a back hand swipe at the puck at the same time it was then glancing off OVS’s stick. It went to Nelly who pounded it home. It would be helpful if the officials &/or League provided some detail because it seemed very clear that the impetus to send the puck away from the net was provided by the OTT player. Of course, as it turned out it was not a factor, but could have been an important turning point. I don’t recall replays being shown on the scoreboard last night, that would also be helpful but might have incited a riot, or at least beer cans on the ice, when the decision was announced.

I went back on the feed and arnsby made a hand pass behind the net after he fell laying a hit. Then it when to OVS, back to nelly and in the net. They weren’t showing the the right replay on the broadcast, the OVS play was not a hand pass because 1. No one else on the team ever touched it 2. He pushed it with his stick after it hit his hand 3. 67 player passed it back to the point

It’s strikes me very odd that the OHL site headlines Thursdays highlights with Erie winning a Thanksgiving clash and the Pete’s & Wolves with the play and save of the night? Two of the top CHL teams in the country and it’s barely mentioned. Check out the 67’s blog how we defeated a flu ridden lineup.
Pretty sure we had 4 of our top starters out of the lineup as well.
Nice 60 minutes and the boys were full value of the win. The review process on most goals is taking far too long while listening to the top 50’s hits.

Incredible statement win. Possibly one of the best 60 minutes I’ve ever seen from this team. Therrien is an animal out there, takes some abuse and never backs down. Brutal officiating going both ways. Solid performance by everyone
Very impressive. Big strong and talented. Full marks for the win “flu“ or not. I like the Batts team better than the Petes and Ottawa will have their hands full with them. Not crazy about playing them 8 times this season.
