I wish irony would manifest itself physically in the form of chocolate pudding because I would chow down for days.
Leaf Nation has certainly done an about face on what constitutes a Norris worthy defenceman.
Consideration is fine. Claiming he has taken a sizable leap above the others is laughable and full on homer.
Put a decent number of other defensemen in that Toronto offense and they'd apparently be leaping ahead of the competition as well....
How exactly have we done an "about face" when it comes to what constitutes a norris season?
EK won the norris in the past for his offense, not his defense.
And now it's silly to put Reilly up there?
Common
You can't paint all fans with the same brush. Try to find anon-Sens fan who was a bigger backer than I for Karlsson.I certainly don’t think it’s silly.
But there was a lot of resistance to the concept when it was a candidate from the other Ontario team.
You can't paint all fans with the same brush. Try to find anon-Sens fan who was a bigger backer than I for Karlsson.
I don't recall Leaf fans whining about defensive play more than anyone else.
HF in general are offensive snobs for DMen. It's very outdated in 2019.
This. If Rielly numbers were not enough (They are), the guy has an anchor playing with him nightly. He has a big disadvantage the other DMen don't have.
Ron Hainsey, try to explain that one people.
Why are you making this a conversation of Karlsson. It's a discussion of this year's Norris, please leave Erik Karlsson out of it.
2017 Karlsson in the playoffs is the greatest play by a DMan I have seen in my life. He was by far the best player, that's including anyone on the Pens and Preds that made the finals. You were a backer I’ll give you that.
Doughty was the darling for most.
He was second in voting though. And Reilly is simply not playing the same role. Reilly's D is relied on much more and he's not sheltere defensively (The polar opposite).Ah i remember when mike green and his 31 goal 42 assist 73 point season didnt win him the norris. Who knows what voters look for
tim Horton retired almost 50 years ago.How can you leave the greatest defenceman in Ontario history out of it?
tim Horton retired almost 50 years ago.
tim Horton retired almost 50 years ago.
I said, the greatest defenceman in Ontario history.
Not the greatest coffee and donut franchise in Ontario history.
Not at all. This is the HF story that has been proven wrong over and over.
So far this is the best performance we've seen from a dman since the days of Lidstrom at least. Maybe even further back.
Maybe the best performance by a Leaf dman, or any dman playing for an Ontario team, ever.
Let's hope he keeps it up, it's incredibly entertaining.
Yes, that's correct. Or are you more of a King clancy guy?
I guess you could choose either.
You keep missing the mark.
Not the best trophy named after an Ontario defenceman either.
Greatest Ontario defenceman in NHL history.
Happy to help.
I’m still basking in the glory of those seasons where we saw the best performances by a defenceman ever in Ontario.
I’m sure you had a pretty good viewing of it too, you should feel privileged.
I've already named them. the history books is full of them.
There is no dman on ANY Ontario team right now, or in the past 10 years, that will come anywhere close to them int he history books.
Agree to disagree. A lot less competition in those days.
I will say that I’ve always had a soft spot for Clancy for giving us two Ottawa Senators Stanley Cup banners in the rafters.
Definitely makes me feel proud as a Sens fan to look up at them and what they meant to our city.
They took those banners to St Louis before the franchise folded.
the ones you see in the rafters are not real, and don't really belong to your team.
