A friendly reminder that the NBA has a vested interest in the Warriors losing.

This refereeing is ****ing brutal. Steph gets murdered, no call, but if he touches Harden in the slightest, it's free throws.

NBA refs are horrible, but I would think the NBA wants the Warriors in the finals. They draw huge ratings.

Sure, but during the it's not like anything they do in the regular season will affect that. Whenever they play on national TV, the reffing suddenly tanks specifically against the Warriors. The NBA wants close games or people will just turn off their TV.

When the free throws are 31-6 against the Warriors in the 3rd and the Warriors are still winning, you gotta admit that's ****ing fishy.

Nothing will ever top the screwjob the Kings received against the Lakers in game 6 of 2002. Kings led big going into the 4th quarter and somehow the Lakers ended up getting 3 times as many free throws (almost 40 in total).

Yeah, I was watching that game, and I was laughing because the fouls were something like 31 for the Warriors and 13 for the Rockets. It's not like the Warriors are a rough team that's constantly hammering guys. Then it just feeds the ridiculous ego of Patrick Beverly as he goes flopping and hacking all over the place and the refs buy it. Bravo NBA.

Harden's 'headbob' needs to be addressed by the NBA. He draws more fouls than I can count per game using that motion. Much like NBA officials watch for other notorious floppers/dirty players, they need to be told to look for Harden's headbob so they don't give him undeserving foul shots.

Yes we're all well aware of that game. It's a crime and a huge talking point for the argument that the NBA scripts games but it was also 15 years ago. Not relevant in a discussion about the Warriors/Rockets game.

Exactly! Outside of Draymond it's not like we have guys throwing hard fouls all over the place or something, and with Draymond his (mostly) deserved rep means he gets called for absurdly tiny things.

Seriously!! Harden never drives the basket with the intention of scoring. He does it with the intention of drawing free throws.

The disparity between what the refs will call for Harden and the absolute murder it takes for Steph to get a call needs to be looked into officially.

I hope Raiders fans boycott the next two seasons if they play in Oakland.

Don't see it happening, because the team should be very good. It would be quite the statement to have an empty stadium for every game.

Russell Westbrook has also adopted that move, I can't stand watching him or Harden.

Why? I don't really fault Davis for moving the Raiders. He doesn't have the money to build a stadium, Oakland doesn't have the money to build one for him. The only semi-realistic proposal that came about would have resulted in him selling off a chunk of his team, which I don't blame him for not wanting to do since it's all that he has.

Move to Vegas, where they are still close enough to their fan bases in the Bay and in LA for them to go there, get handed the keys to a brand new stadium and multiply the worth of your team. Playing at the Coliseum just isn't a viable option for them anymore, especially since the city jacked up the rent on him.

It's such boring, ugly basketball. NBA talking heads always whining about how Curry 'ruined' basketball because now all kids wanna do is shoot threes but no one talks about how guys like Harden and Westbrook ruin the game by playing for free throws.

I'll try to remember my relevancy timeline next time..

That seems to be his intent much of the time.

It's strange because I would think the officials would be aware of it. Like it's not just that many of these are 50/50 calls at best, it's that on a lot of these plays its very obvious he's going directly at guys just to draw fouls without even looking at the hoop. He's got the arms flailing and head bob thing down to a T.

I've noticed that this season for the first time too.

Look, with the way the game is being officiated it's a smart tactic to use I suppose. It's just too bad that the NBA hasn't addressed it because not only is it complete crap, but it also slows the game and ruins game flow.

I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but I am not impressed at all with Harden and Westbrook's seasons. The NBA is going to reward the newest form or ball hoggery with an MVP award.

I'm impressed with their seasons, (slightly moreso Harden's) but neither season compares to Steph's MVP last season. That's obviously a pretty high bar to compare them to since Steph's 15-16 season was one of the greatest of all time by PER (like levels only Wilt, Lebron and MJ have reached).

The numbers are just mind boggling, but I do agree a bit that's basically just a glorified version of ball hogging. Both do seem to be stat chasing at times too.

To be fair to James Harden, his usage numbers this year are very typical and in line with average superstar seasons so calling him a ball hog isn't as accurate as to say that the whole team is built around him and he runs it very well

Russell Westbrook on the other hand is shattering the single season usage rate% this season ahead of legendary ball hogs like Iverson, Kobe, and pre-Pippen Jordan; he is truly having the greatest ball hog season ever

Also, the Warriors don't get to the line because they spend most of the time passing around the perimeter, where as Harden generally runs a quick pick and roll, penetrates, and either hits an open man or drives to the basket; his style of play is built to manufacture FTs, and the Warriors are 18th in the league in attempts per game (Houston is #1) for these reasons

Exactly, he isn't even looking at the damn bucket! He's just running blindly and waiting for contact and then flopping. It drives me up the wall.

Can't say that shocks me.

Very true. And that's the main reason I'm more impressed with Harden's season than Westbrook.

They've both obviously still been awesome and historic. It's been a really fun NBA season. Makes me laugh at all the pundits complaining about the Warriors ruining the NBA in the preseason.
