Man, his weight just goes up and down so much. He seems to gain a ton of weight and then lose it shortly before the season starts. Just amazed though that he could be over 300 pounds and then look to be under 250 a few months later.

Few years back my dad used Ideal Protein's protocol (which is fast, unsustainable weight loss IMO and NO, I am not some sponsor) to lose weight, he dropped 30 lbs in 9 weeks WITHOUT exercise. Seems like such a ...project. Why do that to yourself and then have to put in what must be hell to lose 50lbs? Only Big Buff knows.

Joe Pavelski also got signed to a 5 Year $30mil deal yesterday. Amazing that he was a 7th rounder in that gem of a 2003 draft.

Completely agree that scoring on a delayed penalty should not negate the PP. Why does it? Because you pulled the goalie for an extra attacker? You can do that at any time. Dumb.

Also, this is cool:

And I also like the fighting ban, but whatever.

I am absolutely not in favor of banning fights but there has to be a way that gets rid of the staged sort where 30 seconds into the game a couple guys drop em right after the face off. Some times the staged fight makes sense IMO but most of the time not so much. How about if a fighting major is assessed to a player on your team the next game your bench is shortened by one player (coaches choice)? I think this would eliminate all but the spontaneous my guy just got kneed so I'm going to beat you kind of fight.

Allow fighting only after a stoppage of play. But both players need to be on the ice for that shift and not come off the bench. If a fight is started while play is going on, both players are tossed from the game.

All games have a total of 3 points to be gained:
3 points - Regulation/Overtime win
2 points - Shootout win
1 point - Shootout loss

Reduce size and effectiveness of player padding. Especially shoulder and elbow caps. Make a player blocking a shot pay the price again.

Those new owners sound mighty proud of their Canadian nationality. Red flag?

Looks like they can't for at least 10 years. They signed a 15 year lease with a 5 year out clause. They also sound like they want to keep the team in Phoenix, but then again, Norm Green said the same thing about the North Stars.

Not sure if anyone hear cares... but it sounds Latendresse is going to be playing in Europe. Thus is the way of the lazy-in-the-offseason injury-prone hockey player.

Europe? Yep, definitely closer to Montreal than Ottawa. Good for him, his family will be so happy he's playing extremely close to home.

If not for the salary coming down, I wouldn't doubt that a team gives him a one year deal. However, Latandresse will be joined in Europe by many more NHLers this season due to the lowered cap.

Oh I'm sure the cap drop has a lot to do with it... but it kind of makes you glad that the Wild didn't lose much when letting him go. He wasn't worth the qualifying offer, and now he seems to be out of an NHL job for 1 season because of pretty much the same stuff that the Wild got sick of.
