I think Jersey can pull in a profit, it probably just has a lot to do with how everything is being managed.

Newark and the outlying area has way to great a population, and a hockey friendly population at that, to not have an arena and NHL team. If they're taking out loans on future income and not booking other events during the slow times, there's a chronic organizational issue that needs to be rectified.

Hell, just look at the Hawks not even ten years ago. Their tickets were dirt cheap and they couldn't fill the arena at all, and now you can't get a ticket and they're crazy expensive.

It's possible for them to fix the situation in Jersey, and I really hope they do. There's way too much history there to just throw that away, especially with so much potential.

Can we hire that bimbo that wrote the article about us possibly losing another team to write one about Jersey?

Landeskog extended 7 yrs / 5.57 million AAV.

What do you guys think? IMO too much, too soon.

I agree that the kid is a great player, actually he's my 2nd favourite swede after Brodin, but I feel like he hasn't proven enough to earn that kind of contract.

Yeah, but youngsters are getting way too big RFA contracts anyway. They should've addressed that in the new CBA.

My points is, the term is ugly. The money is a bit too much right now, but then again, situation could be very different next year.

It's a bit of gamble at this point. Think of Jeff Skinner for example, he's young and skilled but has had injury (concussion) issues and has struggled lately. The Canes still gave him a 6-year extension last year. At the same time I get that teams want to lock up their young stars long-term as early as possible. They might end up better than anyone expected and get the leverage to demand a lot more than they get in the contracts they sign early.

The one thing that doesn't make sense is the lack of anything happening in Washington this summer. How Grabovski is not already signed there is beyond me, given the obvious need for a #2 center there. Yikes, would not be happy if I was a Caps fan.

Senators need to realize they ain't going to win the PR battle with Alffie and just let it go.

It's called cap space. Washington... like everyone else of consequence... is up against the cap. Including a few players on ELC's expected to make the roster this year, they are sitting on around $1mil in cap space.

Besides MoJo signing, who are these ELC's you're talking about that bring them to only $1M of space?

Oilers fans voted Toni Rajala their 7th best prospect. So much for a deep pool hahahahaha.

Rajala was nearly PPG last season. Him leaving for Europe is a bit of a surprise.

Not sure what your point is.

I'm guessing Rajala saw the writing on the wall. He knew he'd never be able to make it into the Oilers' top 6, so he left. I think he should've stayed for one more season, though.
