OT: Non-Kraken Local Sports (Mariners, Seahawks, Sounders, etc.)

UW football being good after being garbage last year and seemingly out of nowhere kind of gives me a little hope for the Kraken this year.

Hawks with a tough loss. Run game was good today. OL aside from Lewis and his 2 holds was solid. RZ didn’t finish.

Defensively, they need a lot of work. Trouble with the run and too many broken chunk pass plays given up. No consistency in the pass rush.

It’s going to be very hard for this team to dig themselves out of this morale hole.

still, I feel a lot more confident the Kraken will still make the playoffs before the Mariners.
I still have the screenshot of this post literally as soon as you posted it. I kept this receipt.

Mariners magic number is currently at:

Cal Raleigh always looks simultaneously amused and shocked at the things he does on the baseball diamond.

I really think he’s the type of guy that just can’t believe he’s the guy who is what he is. He’s HIM! He’s the guy who ended the drought. I bet he had a lot of dreams of baseball as a youth and none of them were that he’d hit the mathematically least likely home run in baseball history to end the longest playoff drought in big 4 sports. He looks like a dude who just can’t wrap his head around that he’s HIM. He’s the legend. He’s an object of LORE. Not many ball players get to be what he is.

I know you’re talking about “always” but I figure he has always been the guy that can’t believe it.

You look at baseball history and not many guys are what Cal Raleigh is to the M’s. There are so few, and many legends don’t make the list. Joe Carter, Kirk Gibson, Jay Bruce, Manny Ramirez, Chris Chambliss, Bucky Dent, David Friese, Scott Podsednik, Alphonso Soriano (f*** this one), David Ortiz, Edgar Martinez, Kirby Puckett, Magglio Ordonez, Bill Mazeroski, David Ross, Mark Texiera, Tony Peña, Nelson Cruz. The list is longer, but not much longer. Cal Raleigh is on that list.

Hello all from Ottawa, just placing a marker here to return to this thread later.

Glad to see @PG Canuck here... some of us Canuck fans know who the home team is, but unfortunately most baseball talk in the Canucks' forum tends to revolve around a team several thousand miles away owned by the very broadcasters who make sure to beam their asset into the living rooms of British Columbians.

I was at a Jay’s game in Seattle this summer and sat next to a split group from BC. Two were Mariners fans, the other a Jays fan, and the shit those two M’s fans gave that Jays fan was next level. Hope that happens again this weekend.

Hell yeah, all the more so for me because I actually live in Ontario now…

I used to go to games at the Kingdome semi-regularly (Dad lives in WA) and only once attended a SEA/TOR tilt, in the early ‘90s. I was so embarrassed by other BCers decked out in Toronto gear (which I see as rank hypocrisy for a variety of reasons), this being before it was a whole road trip phenomenon…

For many, many reasons. It’s hilarious, actually.

I’m nervous fellas, not gonna lie. Only because of the extra bullshit I’m going to have to deal with regardless of the outcome.

Mariners vs Blue Jays Wild Card schedule
Friday 1pm PT on ESPN
Saturday 1pm PT on ESPN
Sunday 11am PT on ABC (or 1pm on ESPN or 4pm on ESPN)

Friday's game is the 3rd of 4 time slots and the latter one is SD at NYM for national primetime. I get it.
Saturday's game is the 2nd of 4 time slots and is directly against the UW Football game on Pac12 Network. I get it for time consistency but there's 2 late afternoon/early evening spots. Game in Toronto is also directly against their CFL team's game also being played in Toronto. Toronto NHL preseason game on Saturday night at 4pm may have been a factor as on same network.
Sunday's game is the earliest and on ABC and directly against the Seahawks game. Not sure why they put a Canadian team on over the air ABC station or a west coat team directly against their NFL team and in the earliest time slot.

Tentative Sunday MLB vs NFL (PT)
Tampa - 1pm vs 10am
Cleveland - 1pm vs 10am
Seattle - 11am vs 10am
NY - 430pm vs 630am/10am
Philadelphia - 530pm vs 125pm

Makes me more nervous that they managed to win the first game. I had my expectations firmly in place to expect the worst.
Two chances to close it out. Absolutely massive to get that game 1 win. Jays also used pretty much every arm - that could be a difference as this goes along.
