Which is irrelevant, I was just pointing out that the NFL seems to care about 1st ballot entry

I'd guess the players in all sports care.

My guess is that MLB gets more press about it because there are ~400 voters every year. All those voters are press/writers that have 10+ years covering baseball. The results are also released in the offseason where there isn't much else going on for news.

Used the PFF draft simulator and had the computer select everyone but the vikings and packers.

Here's how the picks went and who I selected for each team:

1. Caleb Williams
2. Drake Maye
3. Malik Nabers
4. Marvin Harrison Jr
5. Rome Odunze
6. Jayden Daniels
7. Brock Bowers
8. Joe Alt
9. Olumuyiwa Fashanu
10. Taliese Fuaga

With the 11th pick, I have the vikings taking Dallas Turner from Alabama to replace a guy like Danielle Hunter. Other players atop my consideration were Cooper DeJean and Nate Wiggins.

12. Nate Wiggins
13. Zer'Zhan Newton
14. Laiatu Latu
15. Cooper DeJean
16. Terrion Arnold
17. Jared Verse
18. Kool-Aid McKinstry
19. JC Latham
20. Brian Thomas Jr
21. Amarius Mims
22. Bralen Trice
23. Chris Braswell
24. Byron Murph II

With the 25th pick, I have the packers taking Kamren Kinchens from Miami. Safety is a pretty significant need for the packers. Other players atop my consideration were Tyler Nubin and Ennis Rakestraw Jr.

26. Ladd McConkey
27. Troy Franklin
28. Tyler Nubin
29. Ennis Rakestraw Jr
30. Leonard Taylor III
31. Bo Nix
32. Jordan Morgan

I get that the Vikings need an edge rusher, but they also better damn well figure out who their qb for the future will be

It would depend on the cap situation for me, which is basically not understandable in the NFL.
And I hate this. Teams are tens of millions over the cap and then suddenly make it work by shifting money around. Seems like they can just do it indefinitely and face little consequence.

There are plenty of consequences. It's why TB went cheap with Baker Mayfield last season to due to dead cap. GB didn't play all those rookies for fun, they had to cover A-Rods dead money.

If we don't sign him then we face a consequence to the tune of about 28M, I think.

I don't see the point of re-signing him. He will be a year older, less good physically, and at that number will cause us to cut some good players. We have already proven multiple time that we simply aren't good enough even with him in the lineup. Let's pull the bandaid off, and move on.

$28.5m in dead cap if he's not re-signed, but then all the dead money towards him is gone. If he does re-sign a 2 year deal then dead cap works out to $10.25m x 2 (added on top of whatever his contract is) with $8m still left over.

This link is an article that goes deeper into how it all works and breaks down.

Sorry to interrupt the Vikings discussion...I'm fine with it. Too many infielders and get a top 75 prospect OF back and some fillers.

Reading some things about the senior bowl and man it sounds like this draft is ridiculously deep at WR. Could probably get a pretty good prospect in the middle rounds. Wouldnt mind if the Vikings did that.

Sounds like Tvondre Sweat from Texas is having himself a hell of a senior bowl. Depending upon what we do with the draft i wouldnt mind grabbing him in the 2nd round to help bolster that IDL. Probably wouldnt be on the field on 3rd downs though. Hes a big boy too. Testing extremely well in the pass rush win rate and run stop.

Sounds like both Penix Jr and Nix finally had good days at practice today. Sounds like they were struggling all week.
