I don't think you need to have played a down in your life to recognize good talent player-wise. He has a track record going back to 2013 of positive impact on player personnel. Bringing in a non-traditional background to me is a positive.

I think it is less important in football to have a guy that's been around the game than in the other big-4 of sports. The rosters and staffs are so much bigger it's more about managing things than player evaluation. NFL teams have more coaches/coordinators than the other sports have players on their rosters (at least it seems that way).

He needs to have traditional football guys under him and listen to their input/feedback.

Just saying if I owned a pro team I would hire front office with experience in said sport.

Just playing said sport in your younger days doesn't make you any more or less qualified to become a GM. Matt Millen was an All-Pro linebacker, a lot of good that did the Lions.

Sounds like it was more of an "exploratory" call, to gauge interest.

Ok, I didn't think the Jim Harbaugh as HC was a serious possibility, because I thought he was a lock for the Raiders the entire time, all they had to do was pick up the phone. They never did!

I seriously believe we have a legit shot now with the Raiders off the table and Kwesi doing the hire.

Though, if we still miss on Harbaugh for some reason, I do like our other two finalist options as well... especially DaMeco Ryans.

Just hope to God they aren't legitimately considering The Giants defensive coordinator.
