So stupid. Why is it so difficult for teams to come up with cool nicknames. Even Football Team was better than that.

Anyone braving the elements to go to Allianz tonight for the USMNT? Every outlet is constantly bitching about how dumb it is they're playing in MN in February.

I have a buddy not from here heading out there. He was asking for pointers on how to stay warm lol. Absolutely ridiculous they are playing here now.

The reality is that no matter what they picked, I'm guessing the majority would have disliked it. I don't really think Commanders is that bad.

As they should. It is stupid.

No argument here, absurd they chose this leg of the qualifying to have us host. They had 3 games they hosted this past Fall which were in Nashville, Austin, and Columbus. With that said, the game is going to be played and the whining does nothing. I look forward to watching it.

I live and work in DC. This is the mood around the office from my colleagues that are WFT fans. Could be worse, but they weren't gonna please everyone.

Not going, but the other team (Honduras?) will have to have thought that they've gone to hell. It gives the US an advantage. Canadians did the same thing in the fall playing up Mexico in Edmonton. Celebrated the win by jumping into snowbanks.

The ball will feel like a rock when they kick it, and travel 60% of the usual distance.

Anyone know much about the guy? All you ever hear about is McVay - I had honestly never heard his name before the hiring process. McVay calls the plays, so I assume this guy wouldn't as HC if he didn't as OC.

Heard the Vikings never even offered him a deal. They truly wanted O'Connell over Harbaugh? Bizarre!

Tough to know any of his tendencies. McVay does all the play calling.
Do we like this decision? I have never heard of him.
Impossible for us fans to really know. He's behind the McVay shadow on offense.

I think Harbaugh (especially if Fangio came with) seemed to be the obvious choice.

The twitter rumblings make it seem like he expected to be offered before coming and possibly didn't prepare. Thats a red flag, especially when he would likely require the biggest commitment.

That plus the similarity to Zimmer in terms of personality makes him seem risky.

I know nothing about O'Connell other than he is the OC to McVay. He likely hasn't been calling plays but coaches associated with McVay (Matt Lafleur, Zac Taylor) have done well when hired for head coaching jobs.
Downside is McVay is the guy who runs the show for the Rams and both coaches from his tree joined situations where the QB's are Rodgers and Burrow.

They didn't even offer the job to Harbaugh? I am definitely happy about that if that tells you my thoughts on the situation.

There is a lot of conflicting information out there, but I got to wonder if the Wilfs talked to York and took York's suggestion over his GM.

What concerns me about Kevin O'Connell, he "runs" an offense in the shadow of McVay.

It's McVay doing the game planning, the play calling etc.

We have no real evidence O'Connell is good at any of it.

This could end up being Brad Childress and his "kickass offense" that was anything but.... all over again.

he used to be a backup qb under brady, and also ran a 4.6 and was the smartest person in the draft his year. Im guessing he has some tricks up his sleeves and knows how to plan an aggressive offense

And? Still not evidence of actually being good himself as the guy running an offense.

Prior to Harbaugh being in the mix, he was second on my list behind Ryans.

Up against Harbaugh though? Too many question marks. Harbaugh should've been a no brainer because of the Brad Childress factor.

Have no choice but to give the guy a chance now, but that's my concern with this choice over Harbaugh.
