As he's leaving the building, a lady can be heard saying "I'll cancel your flight" followed by something else, but can't make it out.

Pretty sure we have our new GM, just not announced yet.

Well the article I saw was not ESPN so i will stick with nitwit.
He's 40.

Report: Kwesi Adofo-Mensah emerges as favorite for Vikings GM
Adofo-Mensah, 40, is currently the vice president of football operations for the Cleveland Browns. He started his NFL career in 2013 with the San Francisco 49ers and spent seven years there in football research and development before moving to the Browns' front office.

So this guy played college basketball, but now he's an NFL general manager? I guess that makes sense...lol, like if Bill Guerin were to be general manager of the MN Timberwolves. At least the Vikings took Jim Souhan's advice (so far), so at tleast there's that.

he worked analytics at wallstreet so he will be taking a far different approach than we are used to it seems.

Apparently, he is a brilliant guy and is a personable person that people seem to like. The approach is wildly different than if we were have to Poles here, but I am here for it. I like the approach.

Wild/hockey fans would lose their shit if we brought in a college basketball player to take over for Guerin, and rightly so. Yes, he's smart, but I personally think he should have a background in football. Granted, I am sure Speilman never played a down - and other front office characters never played a down - but I am sure there are plenty intelligent Ivy League football players too. At least the Vikings took Souhan's advice though.

im sure many fans would dislike it, but many would enjoy it as running a team is not based only off if you played the game before. a lot of things need to be changed with the dinosaur approach of recycled coaches and gms. it is just rinse and repeat again and again. i would be skeptical if it was simply hiring a former nba player with no other credits to his name, but if KG was the new gm of the wild and had harvard and princeton credentials along with wallstreet backround of analtyics i would be more accepting to it as a new attempt in a different direction.

Chuck Fletcher was a Harvard man, too. How can this go wrong?

Vikes are in limbo right now. Tied to an expensive, aging core, that is surrounded by mediocrity. They aren't going anywhere. Time to blow it up.

all reports on him is he is a great person. i am happy with the hire.
Also he's getting a lot of credit for the big roster improvements in Cleveland since he arrived.

I don't care that he's never played. Has been in personnel departments for both the 49ers and Browns, apparently very influential in both organizations which was why Cleveland sniped him for a VP position in the first place, due to his apparently effective new approach.

I'm open to seeing what he can do as the head hancho.

indeed he has done quite a bit to both of those organizations. very curious to see what head coach he wants though.

Already heard he was tight with Jim Harbaugh, but still doubt he comes here.

DeMeco Ryans sounds like a favorite now from what I'm hearing.

DeMeco Ryans now favored to be Minnesota Vikings next head coach?
The backdrop here is interest in DeMeco Ryans from the Minnesota Vikings, among other NFL teams with current head-coach vacancies.
It now looks like Ryans, 37, could end up being the odds-on favorite to replace recently-fired head coach Mike Zimmer in Minneapolis.

Fresh off the division-rival Chicago Bears hiring Ryan Poles to be their new general manager, Minnesota is honing in on Cleveland Browns executive Kwesi Adofo-Mensah to take over that role. It’s led to widespread speculation that Adofo-Mensah could bring Ryans with hin to the Twin Cities.

I think the GM pick is stupid. Think of it this way. Would we select a hockey player/ economy major from Harvard to run the Vikings? As far as I know, football has as much in common with hockey as it does basketball. Of course as I said there are probably tons of NFL GM who have never even played football, but I just think a person should have some experience in the sport they are going to manage. Whatever. It's their choice. Analytics it is...

I don't think you need to have played a down in your life to recognize good talent player-wise. He has a track record going back to 2013 of positive impact on player personnel. Bringing in a non-traditional background to me is a positive.

Agreed. Theo Epstein never played competitive baseball, but no one can deny his ability to run a MLB organization.

I like the hire. Pretty bold if you ask me.
