Horrendous game by Myers. Just embarrassing. Also, what is Maurice thinking putting him on right after he gets out of the box and the Wild tied it??? He should have been stapled to the bench, not just for the awful penalty but also for a terrible game before that. Kulikov and Myers were a freakin' trainwreck, mostly because Myers has a brain cramp every shift in his own zone.

Scheifele continued his really disappointing effort in his own end of the ice. He's constantly cheating for offense so he's continuously on the wrong side of the opponents.

Positives?

Niku is a treat to watch.

Beaulieu looks like a player - looked way better than Morrow ever has with the Jets.

Laine continued his stretch of strong play.

Perreault had a much better outing.

Lowry's line was good.

That Wheeler contract is going to haunt this team, yes he gets points but every other part of his game is very frustrating this year
Not just on the PK last night but he looks like a deer in the headlights in his own zone. He'll skate up to the d man at the point but wont actually check him. Been going on for a long time now.

There is no team right now that screams playoff ready in the West than the Blues, they are playing great the Jets and Preds are doing more losing than winning, but the playoffs are a different animal, and I think that both the Predators and Jets will be ready

To meet in the first round of the playoffs most likely.

Wow people blaming Myers. That was one of Zuckers trademark dives.
Myers was awful. He gave Zucker that call by going for the crosscheck instead of getting position and tying him up like a good D would do. Right now, Myers cruises around in his own zone like a tripod, then freezes as soon as he gets the puck leading to lots of bad turnovers. He and Kulikov were a catastrophe last night.

Are you f***ing kidding me???
1.4 million salary cap that's ranked at #153 for defense man in the NHL .. that's great valve but don't worry he will getting bigger payday with his next team.
Lol ... If you want a Bobby Orr defense man it will cost you 11 million.
He’s 153rd in what metric exactly? I get it, you like grit and think every Jets player should be hitting every opposing player at every moment but every important metric I’ve ever looked at has him ranked far worse than 153. He’s not a top 6 defenceman. Period. Lots of people assume that gritty defenceman who struggle offensively are good defensively but he loses his man constantly and takes himself out of position to make any play on the puck. Even when he has the puck he panics and can’t make a pass out of the zone to save his life. His best asset, his shot, is hardly even an asset because he rarely gets it anywhere near the net.

Big picture shows the Jets win on Friday. This loss don't matter. There are no other alternatives.

Except for the shot part, it sounds like Ben Chiarot is the Jets’ new Mark Stuart.

When I don’t get to watch the Jets’ games and this winter I’ve missed a lot I can always count on you and WPGChief to provide darn good critiques of them. Keep up the great work.

Your comment on Scheifele’s play is bang on. I was at the Coyotes game on Sunday, and that “habit” was on full display there. In that game, in my opinion, Laine and Wheeler had good games but Scheifele brought down the line.

If we as laypeople can see this, you’d think that the coaches can too.

Not exactly a strong lineup we played against last night. And we cant score.

Need a week for the Hendricks effect to kick in. Right now, our game just isn't very good.

My biggest concern is that they are absolutely hemorrhaging shots against this year. It seems like 40 is the norm. To give up 40 against a gutted Wild team that plays the trap is embarrassing. Huddy better pull up his pants, give his dome a shinning, and get his defense to pull their heads out of their collective asses.

You have to give some credit to Minnesota they have a game plan and they execute it extremely well.

I agree Myers was awful and Kuli wasn't far behind.

Liked Beaulieu played a nice simple game.

I thought Hayes was good, could have had a goal and an assist if there was some finish

As awful as Myers was that penalty at the end was pretty awful decision by the refs. Zucker gets shot of a cannon and he knows exactly what he is doing there, he has no chance at the puck and the ref bites and of course we can't kill it off. They were not calling those types of checks all night and then they decide to? Not happy about that. Mind you that isn't what cost of us the game, the lack of finish earlier on just killed us.

They should not be on the PK if they are not going to block shots. I am looking at you Scheif!

I know I have gone off on Wheeler and especially Scheif on here. (and took some heat I may add) Thought that they continued their brutal play again tonight. The passiveness on the last PK by them was embarrassing.

How come Eor is letting his sad side title every post game thread?

Cheer up little buddy.

Definitely was a bit shellshocked. We played good enough and then POW right in the kisser.

Hopefully we can take this lesson to Nashville. Not sure what else to say.

From the red line in, it's a free for all. We don't slow anyone in the neutral zone, we don't hit guys off pucks, our D looks awful because they've got 3 forwards draped on them at all times. The "first line" is the worst offender in this regard. Put them out for a D zone faceoff and the entire shift will spent in the D zone.

I know it's popular to dump all over our defensemen, but it's not them, it's the F.

Dont understand why or how this team's D is what it is. this goes beyond one player. Look at Helle's last 10 games guy is getting absolutely lit up and we are giving up lots opportunities in front of the net at an alarming rate. contrast this with the Blues who are on our tails

Brilliant strategy, guys! First, get enough points to virtually guarantee a playoff spot. Then, play horribly for the last month and a half so that we squeak in with a wild card spot. Then, once nobody takes us seriously anymore... ambush 'em!

The ol' "rope-a-dope"!

Would much rather see Lindholm play over Roslovic.

Roslovic is really starting to close in on Burmi territory here.

Appleton is by far the better player.
Just using this post as a jumping off point.... we tend to favor players who are very fast and looking like whirling dervishes out there, over smart contemplative players.

We love Tanev, Roslovic etc and they have their place on the team, but they aren't getting us points.

Watching players pirouette on the ice all night with nothing to show for it, isn't doing us any good. Yet, there is very little praise for the players that get us points. Weird.

Even when we were winning we were being outshot..look it up... we are like 29th in the league in shots allowed..and that was with morrisey in the line up.... and we are one of the worst in allowing shots from prime scoring areas..this team is going knowwhere this year...hate to say it..
Yup.

I have been saying this for a while now. The record / standing in the league was a mirage. Maurice simply has no answers to fix this. Overplays Scheifele - Wheeler (including the PK). Took waaaaaay too long to change things for a struggling Laine. Weird reliance on AHL level defenders when the results seem to say they should stay in the AHL.

Chevy has given the coach a trade (several actually) to try and fix things. Unfortunately the issues are on D and D zone coverage.

At this stage I will be shocked if they even keep home ice advantage let alone make a cup run.

Then the real work for Chevy:
Finding a new coach
Finding a solution for the Trouba situation
Upgrading the D
Signing major RFA's

It's why I'm annoyed we didn't give Petan more of a shot. He fits the smart, doesn't look busy on the ice but is effective classification. I am fairly certain he would have given us a decent amoubt more than Roslovic this year if given the same opportunities.
