I'm starting to really like Samsonov, he seems to play really well positionally, he has an excellent glove hand and good groundwork.
The D was pretty good tonight they made a few errors but none that were fatal. The goal could be laid at the feet of 15 and 19, who were both at the end of their shift but still, if you need to take the penalty to save a goal, you take the penalty.
Holl and Sandin looked like a solid NHL second pairing tonight which hopefully continues. Sandin seems to be right up to game speed now and Holl doesn't have to cover up for him a whole lot. The other two pairs need some polishing on some rough edges but generally their play has been average and could use some improvement.
The top line seems to be out of synch but is starting to solidify generating chances and hopefully the pucks that are not getting to the net or whistling/trickling wide can start hitting mesh.
The 2 line has been excellent mostly due I think because of this new motor JT seems to have, he's playing physical, faster and out hustling the opponents. Will looks like he's still got a few steps to go till he reaches his peak, when he does he'll rank at least as a top 10 RW in the entire league, Robertson had a decent showing tonight, he mixed it up, had a couple of shots and didn't avoid contact. Most importantly worked hard whether he had the puck or not.
Simmonds Kampf and Clifford were giving the Jets fits and playing in the Jets zone more than in their own. If you win the 4th line shifts, you usually you come away with the two points.
The 3 line got burned after winning a draw getting a shot on goal that rebounded out to the top of the circle level on the side boards that created a 3 on 2. Neither of the two Leaf forwards who got back bothered to pick up the trailer who snagged the rebound and slid it past Samsonov. I have no idea where Ketfoot was going unless he thought the puck had gotten behind the net and Jarnkrok seemed to be happy watching Samsonov make the primary save. Both of those players are normally more aware of what they should be doing. Maybe they were tired, but I'd imagine watching the film won't be very fun for either of them.
