When will people stop calling Larson a 3-4 guy? Doesn't it tell you something when Devils fans are not completely jumping for joy right now?

This reminds me of the cory schneider trade, people wondering how in the holy hell did they not get more?

We got lucky that horvat is legit, should have got a 1st + prospect in the deal also.

the worst part for of this for Edmonton is Lucic will be replacing Hall.

How is that the worst part? If anything thats the only thing that makes this somewhat able to stomach. If we did this deal without a replacement coming for Hall I think all of HF Oilers would be on suicide watch.

I don't like it, but I'll wait and see how the team looks when the game's actually played next season. Better on paper doesn't always = better on the ice and we just got a top pairing RHD. Hate it, but probably not as outraged as some are.

For the past 3 days Oilers main radio guy has been floating a mystery right shot D to Edmonton that no one is talking about, got him to bring up Larsson this is the deal he is "spitballing" I don't completely care for it but better than Hamonic.

Hall

For

Larsson
2nd
Prospect

IMO it would have to be a pretty good prospect just curious peoples thoughts, again I want someone better for Hall but at least he's signed forever at a cheap deal and is a 1st/2nd pair D man in terms of ability.

Just gonna leave this here...

Not to NHL GMs. Top pairing RHD are as valuable as 1Cs.

See the Jones-Johansen trade.

let me know when the oilers trade for a top pairing RHD

larsson isnt nearly in the same tier as any of those other players

I'm hearing Drasaitil for DEhaan lol
now hearing Devils offering top wing to Montreal for Subban lol in all seriousness you guys were not good with core 3 Hall RNH and Eberle you had to make a move for a D Man I think you have too much talent up front plus 3rd pick in draft you will be able now to make additional moves with talent you have

I'm still laughing so hard.

Oilers fans considered Hall better than Kessel and a top 5 LW ever since he was drafted. How do you guys feel about this trade? LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

Hall is a top 3 to 5 left wing in the world. It's apparent that we had to overpay and it sucks, but if it helps us win more games it is worth it. We are a better team with Larsson and Lucic than with only Hall.

Im in the minority here apparently as I think its close to a fair trade. Hall was a little overated and Larsson a little underated around here.
Value favours NJ a bit but not much and considering the Oilers weak bargaining position they did well.

Happy as an Oilers fan. Hall is one of the most gifted athletes in the game today, but he has the hockey IQ of a pineapple. Lucic will be a fine replacement. He doesn't create things like Hall, but he's smarter and can do all the gritty stuff. Doesn't have to be a driver playing with McDavid.

A healthy Klefbom paired with Larsson has me very excited.

strange trade but opens up and extra $3 mil or so to sign Lucic. if so then we traded more offense for some needed top RD and i don't believe we've seen the best from Larsson yet. so it could be Lucic + Larsson for Hall.

That still doesnt make it a good trade, because Hall is still better then Looch and Larsson.

As someone with an outsider point of view on both players involved, I'd like to offer my condolences to Oilers fans. I'm sure you expected more than that for Hall, and I tend to agree with that assessment.

Remember all that talk from before about how the Oilers might have to seemingly lose a trade (in vacuum value) to ultimately improve their overall team?

They just did.

I look forward to seeing the results. I suspect this will go a lot better for them than the optics of the deal might otherwise suggest.

Sometimes you have to lose on paper in order to win on the ice.

And let's be frank, with Connor McDavid the rest of their forwards could be crap and they'd still have a playoff worthy offense. Add to that RNH, Draisatl, Eberle, possibly Lucic, Puljujarvi, etc. and you get an amazing offense.

Adam Larsson is still improving defensively. We'll see if he can become a #1 in Edmonton.

I predict this trade will be viewed as a win-win by December.
