Holy ****!!!

I cant believe this deal went down. I think EDM will regret losing Taylor Hall, but Larsson could be a cornerstone too. Always thought they would move RNH or Eberle long long before this guy.

My god. Must hurt for the Devils to lose a blueline stud in the making, but Hall is effin good. What a blockbuster. Awesome.

Edit: I see now people trashing it for Edmonton. If Larsson keeps on the same trajectory they wont be saying that forever. But that's no guarantee in a team with the level of dysfunction Edmonton has had.

While i am happy about the trade, Oilers fans have no ****ing clue how good Larsson is. He is exactly what they need to finally solidify their defense.

He isn't that good. NJ fans have always vastly overrated him.

Larsson is pretty good, but those exclaiming he can be a true top pairing Dman are reaching a little.

Hall should have had more value IMO, but I guess being one of the key pieces on the biggest joke of an NHL team over the past 5+ seasons really lowers your stock.

Edmonton fans, you will be happy with this trade later. Hall is a bit of overpayment but Larsson has some attributes that youre backend really need and stabilize. You have to give to get, and NJ wouldnt never trade Larsson if you didnt overpay. You guys got Pulju coming, Lucic. Edmonton will do fine without Hall.

I like it, think both teams will be winners in this one.

This would explain why the Oilers were asking for Dumba over Brodin.

I actually think this is a good move for Edmonton.

Well like every one else said and I agreed... we overpaid for a RH Dman. I am glad to get Larsson as I really like him and wanted to choose him over RNH in 2011 but I must say we overpaid... Hall is a top 3 LW in the game and Larsson is a borderline top pairing (today). We can only hope his development continues as we saw last year. I hop ethe NJD posters are right in their assessments. I love his contract.

I guess this means Lucic is likely a done deal.

A lot of people are underselling Larsson here.... he's a decent middle pairing guy right now with a lot of room to grow, he's young and signed to a pretty cheap deal.

Hall is the cost right now for a player like that.... that's just the market.
Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh no. The cost for a 'decent middle pairing guy' with 'room to grow' is not a top-3 LW. Come on.

This is not nearly what a lot of people were expecting to be the return for Hall.

Edmonton got their Dman and if they sign Lucic perhaps that takes the sting of losing Hall away a bit, but I definitely thought they would get more for him. It goes to show just how tricky it is to determine value of players, and how fluid value can be.

Larsson is very good at both ends.
Big at 6'3"
+15 last year on a horrible team.
Good contract at 4.1M for 5 more yrs.
Hall had to go - he was the poster child for Oilers losing these past 5 years

Hall one of the best LW, if not THE best LW, got traded for a dime a dozen non-elite defenseman.

I feel sorry for all the Oiler fans out there. A decade of mediocrity, and your prized winger gets traded for pennies on the dollar.

Remember all that talk from before about how the Oilers might have to seemingly lose a trade (in vacuum value) to ultimately improve their overall team?

They just did.

I look forward to seeing the results. I suspect this will go a lot better for them than the optics of the deal might otherwise suggest.
