Calgary is going to have a good opportunity to build out a solid prospect base in this draft. I have to assume if this deal goes through it will be a solid pick/prospect and some bad salary coming back their way.

Lmao whatever you say bud.

Markstrom is 34, has only 2 years left on his deal and is coming off a season of a .905 save%. There is a 0% chance he's bringing back anything close to what you're saying.

Markstrom would have brought back that kind of return 2 years ago, not today.
So you're saying he will bring back less than a 1st in value? It's amazing how wrong decent posters can be sometimes.

Yost is legit but not usually the guy breaking these kind of moves. Really curious to see how this deal ends up looking.

New Jersey is going to look dangerous with Keefe as the coach and Markstrom in net.
At his size he's too old to be able to keep up. He will only continue regressing. Terrible pick up by the Devils.

Yost is credible, but I believe Markstrom has been traded to NJ before...haha. My prediction is 50% retained for either Casey or Holtz and 1st round pick.
too much value..I think Holtz and the 1st for Markstrom at 50% was the trade at the deadline which would be the peak valuation for Markstrom. Now its either Holtz for Markstrom straight up OR Markstrom at 50% + Vcr 1st for the 10th OA

The return wont be great
What's great? I don't think we're talking Mercer or 10OA unless a dump is coming with them, but I think it's a 1st and prospect. Conroy wouldn't have moved him now unless he got his ask which was pretty clear. 1st and prospect.

He'll bring back something like a 2nd and some random B level prospect, or maybe a guy like Holtz and a 3rd. That's the value he's realistically sitting at right now.
You're light on the return, but not ridiculously so. A 2nd and B prospect is way light. Holtz and a 3rd is 3 times the value of a 2nd and B prospect.

I feel like we're at a point in the NHL where it's not worth trading for a goalie unless it's a slam-dunk top 5 guy. There seems to never really be any consistency to the rest of them, so go cheap and your odds are no worse than if you go expensive.

Lets go, trading this contract for anything positive is huge. The 6x6 initially everyone assumed we'd be buying out by the end of it haha

Definitely. 34, 6m AAV for 2 years and his performance the past two years? I'd go further than the other guy and say 75% of the league would skip him on waivers. Needs to be at least 50% retention for him to bring back any decent value

I think there's for sure a 1st in there and for sure a prospect. Likely the 2025 1st. Conroy moves early like this when he gets his asking price.

If the 10th ov is included it’s a coup for Connie. I still don’t think he’s worth anywhere near that however.
