I'm excited to see what games come out at release/soon after.

Looks like Mario Kart will be part of that release window. Do we get Metroid Prime 4 at the start? What about a new 3D Mario game?

Lots to speculate on!

Metroid Prime 4 would be pretty big.
They have a good opportunity I believe to have a massive launch in regard to new releases.

Also, I'm anticipating an Oct/Nov release date, based on the Switch 2 Direct timing in April.

Counterpoint: The Direct is scheduled for 3 months after the reveal (January -> April 2025). They did the same thing for the Switch (October 2016 -> January 2017). Switch launched 2 months after its' Direct (January -> March 2017). If they use that same timeline for the Switch 2, that would mean a June release.

Interesting that they're not elaborating on it until April. There's a couple month gap with basically no releases. Have to assume there's some kind of direct before then.

Crazy that MK8 is over 10 years old. It's almost wild to see a new one.

I'm happy as long as I can play my Switch gamed on it.

Ideally, some get a performance boost (like BOTW, so the towns and forest don't dip below 20 fps).

A new Mario Kart is an easy sell to the casual audience, so I get it, but I don't really know how much more then could add to MK8D to make me want another Mario Kart. Truth be told, very few of the tracks made since Double Dash have been great...

That trailer feels like something that was pushed out in response to the massive amount of leaks. At least backwards compatibility was announced.

I sold my Switch a while back since I wasn't using it much, but since I beefed up my computer more I'm starting to learn towards having a Switch as my only console. I'll need to be on the lookout for some decent sales on some games between now and release whenever one may happen.

I wonder if they do something drastically different with the new Mario Kart. It felt like MK8 took the trajectory they were on about as far as it could go. They can't really throw out more totals track/characters/classic tracks than they had in MK8D and the gameplay was solid and refined.

The Switch 2 controllers appear to have some kind of mouse mode. I wonder if that might exist for something like a Mario Kart Maker?

The course they showed a brief glimpse of looked uncharacteristically large, empty and sort of lacked personality compared to MK8 tracks. Maybe there's being several large maps with different race routes in them as well as the ability for players to create their own courses through the existing terrain, adding some hazards and props along the way.

I'm old as dirt, I probably won't buy it right away, but there is still something about a Nintendo release that makes me giddy. Yeah, it looks like just a refinement and upgrade of the switch, but Nintendo always has the possibility of throwing something out there from left field. I love potential for oddness when Nintendo is looking to do something big.

An annoying aspect of TotK I just ran into is the AI of your sage friends as they help you battle.

I'm trying to beat all the monsters at the Lurelin Village, I keep getting like 90% of them beat but then dying. A couple times because I was looking for Yonobu or whatever his name is to do the rolling fire attack, but he's just running around aimlessly or leading me into slaughter by running into enemy attacks. Just stay by me bro so I can use you every 20 seconds. So annoying.

Worse, is that I'd been saving the game at the halfway point hoping to save my progress, but when you die and reload, it repopulates every monster but still charges you for every item or weapon you used before saving, which is bullshit.

If it don't beat it on the next few tries, I'll just go power up and replenish materials before trying again.

Edit: went back to an earlier save with all my materials and ended up succeeding in the quest. Still annoying though.

With Zelda games it's fun solving puzzles and following clues, but also just as fun to just randomly find important items or locations just through exploring the open world.

I'm pretty near the end of the story mode in TotK, but just through pure accident
I discovered the Master Sword. I'm just going to the sky towers to unlock the map, then since I'm in the air I go toward the nearest sky Islands, then use some rockets left on platforms to go higher, then see some dragon and figure I'd try to fight him, except I find you don't fight him, you just land on him and get scales, then I walked to his head and there's a sword sticking out of it and I have enough stamina to pull it out and get the cutscenes with Zelda.
I'm sure the game would've given clues to it later on, but the fact that I just found it through pure experimentation is kind of cool.
