Nintendo Switch #5

Okay, here are my takes for the things that interested me or stood out to me. If not mentioned, I either disliked it, didn't care, or didn't notice it.

Tunic for the Switch? Nice, I've been wanting to play that.

Still no announcement for a Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster for the Switch? C'mon, Square!

Hope Goldeneye controls halfway decently.

I remember Peach Garden DS being a fun track.

The Pikmin mobile game otherwise doesn't interest me, but I might get it for the map function alone. I really like the idea of unveiling the actual world map based on my travels.

I really need to try out the Bayonetta series. The new character with the short blonde hair looked dumb, though.

There's no chance that the Resident Evil cloud games will look good or function well.

Sifu sounded interesting previously, so I'll give it a shot.

Tears of the Kingdom, TotK? Got my name reveal, and a release date, 5/12/13, so I'm happy. Will have to analyze the footage more in-depth later. But a tad odd, as they previously said that they were withholding the name as it had a mild plot spoiler in it, and.... I'm not seeing it.

Seemed like a pretty packed direct. My biggest observation is that farming games are really becoming oversaturated.

Personally, the only two things that interested me were the Tunic and Sifu ports (and maybe Radiant Silvergun), although considering how input-demanding both are and how compromised they might be on the Switch, not convinced it'll be a great place to experience them.

One thing that really annoyed me about the Crisis Core Reunion bit is that, boy oh boy, Square Enix really just does not remotely give a rats ass about preserving that
Cloud plot reveal
, do they?

I'll care more about Tears of the Kingdom if/when I ever come around on Breath of the Wild. Looks nice, though.

Also, wish they gave Tactics Ogre Reborn some exposure (coming November 11th, 2022 to Switch).

Interested in A Wonderful Life remake because that game was my childhood. Aside from that I'm just disappointed that we most likely won't get any new hardware until at least 2024.

Is it tears like "my eyes are tearing up" or tears as in "tear up a piece of paper"? I don't have volume here at work so if they said it I didn't hear it.

The pronunciation could work either way and fit with a title

I need that new Fire Emblem to come out earlier. Don't really care about the rest of the announcements.

But that said, what a dumb name. I like the idea of calling ghosts of popular fire emblem heroes to use in battle but I'm wondering how easy mode that pair up system is going to make the game. Hopefully it's still balanced.

And also hopefully there's a sizable roster of former characters to acquire (without DLC, as I'm sure plenty will be microtransactions)

I'm not sure how to feel about this game. Three Houses is the only Fire Emblem game I've played and I absolutely loved it, but I also gather that it was a bit of a departure for the series. From early reports it seems like Engage is probably closer to something like Fates, more of the traditional FE style.

As someone who only knows about the older games through Smash references, they should really try and remake Awakening imo. I understand that was the game that sort of saved the series and characters like Lucina and Chrom still seem really popular. Would be cool for non-3DS users to get a chance to try it.

Other than zelda the game im surprisingly looking most forward to was mystery detective raincloud. Looked surpisingly fun.

Also noticed there was a lot of farming jrpgs in this presentation.

I feel like awakening would hold up pretty good with just a new coat of HD paint.

I would recommend giving some older titles like the GBA games a try. I personally wouldn't mind a return to the old formula though I really don't think Fates is a great example of that. Either way I don't really see this as a return. A majority of the FE games have the same core gameplay but unique mechanics. So going back to basics wouldn't be unwelcome but I do hope the maps and map objectives are good. And to my point that I rambled away from, having these ghost hero pair ups, I don't imagine this game is returning to its roots. Which is also fine by me.

As for awakening, I'd imagine they will eventually but after the 3DS is fully phased out and 3DS emulation gets stronger. It's a good game but to them it's probably still too recent.

I'd personally prefer if they remade the GBA games that got me into the series.

Hmm, finally got around to seeing the Direct. I'm starting to think that the pandemic/chip shortages really must've screwed over Nintendo and their next console plans. It just feels like that this system is done and we hit the limit so here's a bunch of remakes/remasters and some indie stuff.
(Also 4 farming games.... heh)
No offense to anyone looking forward to any of the games, but holy cow Nintendo needs to announce the next Switch-thing already.

SMT V was down to 40 on Amazon so I pulled the trigger on it, can't wait to start it up.

A few charging questions...are the USB ports in cars good enough to charge the system or does it need to be plugged into the lighter outlet? I ask because my lighter outlet doesn't work lol. Also, are any of the extended batteries any good?

Nier Automata will be released next Thursday. This is a game that I've had interest in since I saw some gameplay stuff of it on the PS4. Actually almost bought a PS4 just to play it.

Anyway, I do have next Friday off and SwitchUp just gave the game a 92%. Needless to say: I'm quite excited!
