I finally found someone else that's played BotW on WiiU lol

Dozens of us! Dozens!

I also have it for the Switch, and sort of made the mistake of installing the DLC on that version. I've also never finished it, and the while the journey has been pretty good, it's also a bit of slog (which is why I can't redo it all over again for the Switch), and I've read the battle with Gannon is a letdown.

I think I've 3/4 guardian whatevers. Need to get the fire/volcano one. I did hook up my Wii U recently as well, and I just need to recharge my gamepad and pro controller.

TBH, I think the Wii U version is better, sd the gamepad screen is actually useful IIRC.

I also have Skyward Sword HD that I've never fired up. I like I should be honest with myself and say that I like the idea of video games, than being arsed to sit down and play them anymore.

100% this. The gamepad was way useful for BOTW. Unfortunately, mine always needs to be plugged now. It won't hold a charge.

It's the Tetris part of Tetris Attack that keeps it from being re-released.
Is that really all it is? Damn, that is stupid. Blocked by a dumb naming choice that has nothing to do with the game or its creators.

Couldn't they just legally work around that by changing the "Tetris" sprite to something else?

Earthbound only has a couple trouble spots for most people.

The very beginning of the game where you have to fight Frank. Even on multiple playthroughs I'm pretty sure the only way to win that fight is to just bang your head against the wall until the game lets you win and grind a little bit before hand.

The department store. Paula gets kidnapped and with it you lose a lot of firepower. If memory serves the boss of that area is a dick too.

Dark Onett: towards the end of the game after getting all 8 melodies you're forced to go back home and up to where the meteor first crashed. The town is overran with stupidly powerful enemies

And then depending on what kind of luck you have you may or may not get demolished by Diamond Dog because of its ability to turn your party members into diamond, rendering them gone for the remainder of the battle unless healed or one shot killing you in rare cases.

There's a couple tricks to make the game a bit easier.

If you see a particularly daunting group of enemies on screen, you can actually walk back enough where they're offscreen and despawn them. This helps immensely especially towards the end of the game.

There's a couple caterpillar monsters in the desert areas in the game that serve no purpose other than giving you a shitload of XP for killing them. This will cut down on the grinding you have to do by a good amount. Iirc they're also an instawin if you can catch them off guard too.

Never be afraid to use PK abilities. PK becomes ludicrously overpowered to the point Ness can use them to become a one man show. He can provide healing, boosts, damage attacks. Even better is when Ness also gets a massive plot mandatory exp boost before you embark on the endgame.

I have never played a Earthbound/Mother game, but I must admit I am shocked that Nintendo hasn't made one since 2006 and that was only of the Gameboy Advanced. I think the series would get a huge rejuvenation boost if Nintendo actually would redo the original or do another sequel, especially considering that RPGs are becoming action-based from what we saw with FFVII: Remake. Picture that sort of style, but from the studio team that made Mario: Odyssey (which could be my favourite Nintendo game of all-time).

Played BOTW last night for the first time since January of last year. Had trouble adjusting to the controls, and to be honest, I was never that good at the game anyway. And of course the first shrine I get was a Major Test of Strength.

Yet somehow I survived. Having a fairy helped.

I've already killed all of the mutant Ganons at the moving statues. But the castle intimidates me. And yes, it's been so long that I've forgotten the names of a bunch of stuff.

Amusingly they released the Yoshi version back in Japan under a different name.

What are some underrated/underappreciated 3ds games that are not misses? Wondering if I should make use of the e-shop while it still exists.

I never got used to the default button mapping. I switched the jump button and shut motion controls off immediately

The trip from Twoson to the place where you meet Paula is a pain too. Ness is still alone and some of the enemies pack a punch, give you the mushroom status which is super annoying, or the trees self-destruct.

Beating Frank pretty much requires you grind on the enemies around the arcade.

Maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but I wonder how much a quality of life feature where you start the game with maxed out stats (turning it into a walking simulator, essentially) would improve the game.

The game's bread and butter is the charm, deceptively understated themes, and strange yet inspired sense of humor/writing-- the gameplay is basically just Dragon Quest, and Dragon Quest kind of sucks, IMO.

But not when people continue to support Nintendo's anti-gamer practices. It's like seeing a bunch of people suffering from Stockholm syndrome.

They should just charge people $10 or so a month and give them access to Nintendo’s library. Who wouldn’t pay for that? It’d definitely be more consumer friendly than charging people $60 for a Skyward Sword refurb job.
