Fox has more value than byfield.

quite a bit more.

doubt the Kings would go for any of those comparisons. They're all practically slanted in favor of the Rangers. Majority of Kings were higher picks for Rangers lower picks

The Kings would give up Byfield for Fox in a heartbeat.

I don't think Nils/Turcotte is off base either and Jones/Kupari is probably slanted in the Kings favor.

put it on the Kings board and see

Kings GM hangs out on the Hfboards now? Coool.

Frankly, whether Kings fans think it's fair is just as irrelevant as if Ranger fans think it's fair.

Let's be honest, any rational hockey fan can ballpark a relatively fair deal. Whether the opposing GM would be open to it is another question. But that's all we can really achieve in hypothesizing. And then some fans are so disconnected from reality, it's sad.

I am pretty sure the Rangers would not give up Fox for Byfield. While there is way more of a chance of the Kings actually taking Fox in that hypothetical situation.

And the Nils/Turcotte or Jones/Kupari comps aren't offbase at all. Those would be very fair places to begin a negotiation.

I would even go as far as to say Miller - Madden or Kupari. Maybe not Miller - Vilardi or Turcotte. But who the heck knows. Some GMs have some strange ideas that end up working out for them or killing their careers.

But if fans want to talk rationally that's one thing.

But listening to a bunch of homers wax poetic about how attached they are to some prospect and how their team could never ever consider such an "awful" deal is just hilarious whenever it happens. It's usually so detached from reality.

Like if you put it on the Ranger board Byfield for Nils. Youd have some Ranger fans going "NEVER Nils is the future. " and it would be just as meaningless because you know Drury would be up all night trying to get that done. Just like I am pretty sure Kings GM would be all over Fox. Byfield who??

despite the long winded . . . doubt the Kings trade higher #1 prospects for lower #1 prospects.

What would the comparables in terms of value be if we were to match our Ds to their Cs?

Fox - Byfield
Lundkvist - Turcotte
Miller - Vilardi
Jones - Kupari
Robertson - Thomas
Reunanen - Madden

Something like this?
Fox to Byfield? Do you mean, Schneider to Byfield?

It's tough to find someone close enough in value to Byfield. Fox is probably the closest.

And I forgot about Schneider here but that's what happens with lists on the fly. Always one player you skip for no apparent reason

I think Schneider has impressed so much he’s probably our closest comp to Byfield. Byfield still has the edge based on pedigree and upside but Schneider is quietly very impressive. As I’m sure everyone would agree.

Draft position does not matter when trading for players.

Brett Howden isn't worth more than Alex DeBrincat.

Draft position is based on a projection of what the player will develop into.

Howden already played in the NHL and was moved at 23 yrs of age.

Turcotte was drafted 5th overall and is only 20 years old while Nils went #28 overall and is 21 years. I don’t see Turcotte’s projection depreciating so soon.

not first choice door #1, but let's not be closed minded either
no sacred cows

if we got higher rated Sanderson, who my understanding is he has not yet signed so his elc not yet on the clock and has commitment this season so you are getting better value and creating roster flexibility short term, that could make sense.

KAM ++ for Sandy +
on paper this could work

Sens would require profit but if it is assets we can spare, that can work, + they get KAM now while Sanderson is not playing NHL this yr

and as explained, works for us too
So a rebuilding team is gonna trade a recent 5th overall pick who has potential to be a #1 d for a guy who will never be a top pairing guy and I'm guessing the plus has less upside since you didn't even bother saying what that plus is? Every proposal I have ever read of yours is incredibly slanted towards your team.
The funniest thing tho is your posts is always constructed the same way, whether it's a reply or not they always come across as 1 part condescending, and 2 parts narcissistic.
I'm 100% positive you think you are smarter than everyone else and expect everyone to buy what you selling. Sorry to derail the thread.

Jones & Lundkvist should make the team over Miller :(
The Trouba Miller pairing just isn't working this preseason. Trouba has really struggled when he gets the puck in his own zone with any sort of pressure. It's been really alarming. Especially so when you consider that he's supposed to be the "rock" on that pairing to help Miller along.

They're just not in sync or providing enough support to each other.

I don't think Miller has as long a leash as some people think he does. It's not out of this world that he's been given the job to start the season, even with I think has been a pretty shaky preseason for him, but if he continues to struggle I don't think Gallant will have an issue benching him 20 or so games in. Jones has been good but I don't see the massive hype around him that some other posters see. Also, injuries will happen. People are acting like our prospects will never see NHL ice this season so we can further evaluate them in regular season.
