Another goal for Nils today, Lulea leads 1-0
Is that the record breaking point?
It is. And he does it against the team where his dad is the GM
What's impressive is that with such a big ice surface, there is more ground to cover as a D to get there and he still got there in time. This kid is showing al the signs of being a stud. Would be foolish to trade him with out seeing him play some games in a Blueshirt and see what we have. That's a play Fox would make.
I wonder how his dad felt about that.
I asked him about it once. But when Nils is on the ice, the family roots for Luleå. They all grew up supporting Skellefteå but things are different now.
Funny story: In his first season in the SHL, Nils played together with his uncle (mom's side): Jan Sandström
I wonder if he cheers in the box when Nils scores and the owner gives him stink eye.
That would be hilarious.
FWIW:
Lundkvist is now 1st in points and 2nd in goals among D-men aged 20 and younger. His 29 goals are trailing only Tomas Johnsson (former Islanders defenseman) who had 31 in 4 seasons for MODO between 1977 and 1981.
Lundkvist has 4 games left to close that gap.
Any idea what the GPG average was in the late 70s SEL? I’d imagine scoring was higher over there as well? That would be hilarious.

Wow. That adds quite a bit of context. Thanks!Tomas Johnsson
77-78: 4.11 G/GP
78-79: 3.91 G/GP
79-80: 3.96 G/GP
81-81: 3.97 G/GP

2018-19: 2.59 G/GP
2019-20: 2.67 G/GP
2020-21: 2.80 G/GP

Yeah, pretty amazing.WOW! The hockey IQ on that defensive play is absolutely through the roof.
In several years we’re going to have the best defense in the NHL.
Who the hell will be able to match this?
Lindgren-Fox
Miller-Lundkvist
Robertson-Trouba
Jones-Schneider
We may have only like 2 centers in the entire organization but holy shit does the defense not need to be worried about.
