Well assuming we pick up someone at the TDL then nobody, roster spots aren't limited so we good as long as everyone fits under the cap of course.

He's a huge supporter of of most of his players until he's not. He is "Ville's biggest fan" but that hasn't helped him get out of the PB.

As @NA Hockey has indicated Appelton's minutes have gone down lately.

I think it's more likely due to his health. Even though he's back that doesn't mean he still isn't managing something

The idealist in me is praying for Ehlers, but the realist in me is thinking Pionk.

I think nelson or boeser would be good fits in terms of giving your power player another lethal weapon at its disposal . I think special teams play huge role in playoffs and hockey in general.. picking up a top 6 guy even laughton at a cheap price bolsters your pp and pk a bit... someone on defense who can help on the pk be valuable asset aswell

Brad Lambert has 3 goals through more than half the AHL season.

His window to being an impactful top 200 NHL forward - which is looking like a 50/50 chance at best - is probably minimum three seasons away, which is getting to the very edge of the Jets contention window.

I’m not saying give him away for scraps, but the idea we’d value him as some untouchable prospect worth more than a late first rounder is wild to me.

If he’s the key ask in a deal for someone with term or a high end rental, move him while he still has some value.

All thing being equal with Lowry's line intact I see no need for Laughton. Even though they wont score in bunches Arniel seems to love that line and they do what he wants for a third line so I see no spot for him.

huh? the context of the OP is if the Jets suffered an injury at 2C.

i can see why the Jets may be interested in another middle-6 C to have some injury cushion if someone went down, and Laughton would be an upgrade over most of the bottom-6 as is.

I keep coming back to the game right before the break where Lambert was a surprise addition to the lineup. The prior number of game Ford played on the fourth line and looked good doing it. He had also practiced in that same spot the day prior to game. Lambert's sudden addition seemed like something that the GM requested due to other teams wanting to see him. So that to me would indicate that they aren't opposed to moving him in the right deal.

Aside from the Namestnikov signing they have had him and JAD split center duties on the Moose since he went back down. That to me is further clouding the picture on whether they actually see him as a center at the NHL level.

In terms of Chibrikov he has the type of game where he can likely slot in on a lower line whereas Lambert I think it's top 6 or bust on this team.

there is no high-end rental this year from the looks of it. lambert for nelson? no way from me. if dobson is on the table in the off-season id def. include lambert in a package for him though or a similar NHL player.

I like what I am hearing Lu say about Chevy's comments. The fact Chevy is hammering on the fit being right narrative seems to me like he is warning the fans that he doesn't want to mess with the chemistry of a successful team.

Having such terrible results last playoffs after blowing off a draft class on rentals was a learning exigence. We traded a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, conditional 3rd, and a 4th then proceeded to get swept after the opening game. Those assets could have all be bundled as part of a larger trade for a full time second line centre instead of overpaying to patch the hole every spring.

Rentals with term only please.

I wouldn't be reading much into what the line is labeled. I have watched each of the last 5 Moose games and he's getting significant minutes, including all offensive situations.

Him playing RW is the more interesting and possibly concerning aspect.

I actually don't agree. Chib probably never plays in the NHL. Lambert is much more suited to and he might not make it.

Sounds like Chevy has realized that you just can't make deadline deals for rentals put them in the lineup and expect results on the ice and off especially if said rentals don't want to be here. Hopefully he has figured out that rentals for the most part have not worked out for this team.

Chevy has never pulled in a bigger fish with term before in this situation. If they do go that route, the Jets are going to have to give to get. Simple as that.

Being a few years away from impacting the Jets roster at the earliest -- Barlow could be a piece that goes the other way.

Just a reminder that Arniel is a huge supporter of Appleton. I really don't think he's going to demote him if the Jets get a new RW. I kind of think it's more likely that Perfetti would be demoted, rather than Appleton.

at 5v5 at least, perfetti has underperformed this year again. he & appleton are scoring at the same rate given their TOI, & Appleton w/ a much lesser offensive role. Either would be viable potential upgrade spots for a deep PO run, although the 2nd line has been performing better as of the last 10 or so games. IMO a versatile top-9 winger would be beneficial to the 3rd line with possible 2nd line upside. Palmieri imo is a solid player for this, and likely isn't returning a 1st. 13 5v5 goals is way more than Appleton and Perfetti.

Agreed. This org actually needs to give these kids a legit run of games at C in the show to see if they can handle it. A few games here and there doesn't say anything about their long term prospects at that position.

This org is far too impatient with developing centers these days. Can you imagine if they moved Mark to wing back in the day because he took a good 20 plus games before he got comfortable at that position at the NHL level.

Lambert really had two things he really needs to work on.

1) Putting on muscle, he's getting knocked over and off pucks quite regularly at the AHL level.

2) He needs to get to the hard areas in the ozone with much greater regulatory. I've seen the last 5 games plus a lot at the beginning of the year and he's barely in the slot. Almost all of his shots in the games I've seen are coming from the outside. There is a reason Ford has the number of goals he does and Lambert has the number of goals he has. Ford gets to the net whereas Lambert doesn't. Couple that with a below average shot and you have 3 goals.

If he insists on being a perimeter playmaker he's never going make it as a top 6 player. The NHL is just too good of a league.

Yup, I actually see Chibrikov as a Perrault type bottom 6 player that can provide energy and some tertiary scoring.

Laughton or Frederic or preferably Rakell...guys who can play up and down the lineup, fill holes. But not if the cost is too high.

On defense I don't know if there's a needle-mover out there.

would like rakell tbh. not sure how it fits next year at 5M, although that's a pretty fair deal for him. not sure if he's a full-time C, i know he's played some if Sid or Malkin misses time but nevertheless he'd be a welcomed addition as a 2nd line Forward. he adds some finishing and physical play to the top-6. think him and ehlers would be a v good pairing. he'd be a player that i would be ok moving a 1st for... the other 2, especially Frederic, no bueno.
