Proposal: Nils Hoglander for Brayden Schneider. Van/NYR

I think with the Rangers looking for secondary scoring and Canucks RHD prospects both teams can help each other out. Hoglander is 20 and on his ELC. Schneider is a shutdown RHD Prospect that is tracking well.

No.
Hog is nice, but we have no one like Schneider anywhere else in our system with size/mobility/skill and nasty.
He likely breaks in on 3rd pair next season and hopefully takes over Trouba’s duties year or 2 after that.
Rangers will likely trade Lundkvist before Schneider seeing as Fox is here long term and we have Jones/Miller on the left side.
I’m pretty sure Drury considers Schneider a future cornerstone piece who will be cheap for a while. He had a solid camp as a kid, and if we weren’t flush with D prospects could have started this season with NYR.
Jones-Schneider are getting heavy 1st pair minutes in Hartford now and playing well.

Serious question but why are VAN fans so high on Schneider? I think he is a good prospect but I didn't think he was considered to be that good.

We are looking for someone to play with Hughes long term that possesses a certain skill set of more a stay at home defensive player. Age obviously plays a role in a tiny rebuild while going with the core 23/25 and under.

Uhh are you kidding me I’m not a fan of either team but Hoglander is a young cost controlled top 6 nhler. Schneinder has yet to play a game in the NHL and may never be an impact NHLer. Hoglander has much more value

I agree fully he holds more value as of now.

With Garland on the team I just feel he is our best asset other than Miller. Hoglander is cost controlled and excellent in every aspect. It’s more of filling another role for something we can replace.

Big, young, mobile RHD with upside. We don't have anything like that on our team, or in our pool. He is a good fit.

With Fox and Trouba signed for the the next 5+ years at $17+mil, Some feel that for the right price Schnieder may be available.

Hoglander has been very good in the NHL so far, and has a ton of upside. He is better than most who just stat watch would assume, he impacts most shifts he is on the ice positively, and rarely seems to make a bad play. Not sure he is quite enough to get this done though from a Rangers POV, and not sure I'd do it from a Canucks POV either, we need more guys like Hogs, not less.

Solid Post though OP.

Both teams would hate to lose the players involved. With the Cap either can afford big money in/out. Hoglander on his ELC at the age of 20 is probably as good as it gets value wise while filling holes for both teams.

Interesting idea but I think Vancouver would be better served moving one of their older, more expensive players to another team for a young, RH’ed shot d-man.

I don’t disagree. That’s where picks come into play. We would gain cap space and be able to draft certain players we view as the type we want going forward with a new vision. The vets should go for picks and if salary needs to come back that should just be better picks involved in the deal.

By this argument Hoglander is also worth more than Owen Power and almost every other player from last years draft

I edited my post

I’d still rather keep Hog and look to move one or more of the vets for something involving a young RH’ed d-man. I think part of why we could afford to move Miller/Boeser is because of Hogland and Podkolzin. I guess failing that this could be a fall back option.

Vancouver really needs a stud RHD, but we also need more guys like Hoglander (who are willing to go into the tough areas and make creative, skilled plays), not less.

We love Hoagy in Van. He's a beauty, and not available.

Lol give me a break Owen Power is being compared to Hedman. Hoglander is only 1 year older then the big rangers dman who was a mid 1st and is trending as expected. Hoglander has far exceeded expectations.

Would rather keep Hogs. A legit top 6 guy is worth more than a good prospect.

We already know rangers and Canucks fans don't agree on trades because rangers fans won't give up Schneider and Canucks fans want him as a primary piece or no deal.
