Thank you for the info, but that was sarcasm. I think that anybody negatively judging someone based on his number of followers takes the saddest, lamest and most pathetic way of proving how shallow they really are.

Probably cares more about being a professional athlete who makes millions rather than his insta follower count bud.

Lol at the basement dwellers saying it’s embarrassing for Zaitsev. Talking shit and screenshotting it is cool? How about be accountable for what you say and not hide behind a keyboard
Calm down Zaitsev.

I was just surprised, I have never seen anyone famous have so few followers, I was just surprised since it's a great tool to build your brand as an athlete.

I didn't write to him and I never said I condoned that or some shit, calm down kiddo.

If you’re a :eek::eek::eek: to professional athletes on social media, don’t cry about it when they say they want to kick your ass :dunno:

I have no sympathy whatsoever for fans who do this kind of stuff. If you can get punched in the face for talking shit to a regular person on twitter, you deserve it for talking shit to an athlete on twitter too.
They are "professional athletes"... meaning you act like a professional. Fans can say whatever they want about athletes. There is no reason for any violence or threats of violence.

Calm down Zaitsev.

He's not famous LOL

Pathetic to not message him back with some bants.
Right!!!?? I'd be like "Id meet you out front of your own net but I don't think you'd be able to find it". At least say something or maybe he did and he deleted his responses to look like the victim. Either way you either make emends or you have some fun, this is definitely not a great alternative

He’s a professional athlete who has played for Russia, Toronto and Ottawa. He's way richer and famous than all of us.

I would have done it, I'll take a punch to get paid. But that's just the lawyer in me.

Bunch of wannabe tough guys in here. Obviously there may be more to the story but as it stands, a fan posted a dumb meme about how Zaitsev sucks. This isn’t a big deal. We are all on this very forum talking shit about players constantly. You’re telling me yall would happily go meet up with the players you shit talk to fight them? Ridiculous.

It’s part of being in the public eye / being a pro athlete. Fans will make jokes and insults. Long as it’s not racist or otherwise obviously crossing a line, it shouldnt matter. Nothing but weak behaviour from Zaitsev.

Assuming that meme is all he did it seems like a massive overreaction. But also posting his response for the world to see is a massive overreaction. This should've been a nothingburger all around.

Zaitsev didn't attack him publicly and didn't make any threats in DMs. Just asked him to "be a man" and say those things when they are face to face. I don't see there's nothing wrong and it doesn't make Zaitsev look bad in my eyes. But I understand how the meme maker guy can "weaponize" these messages and Zaitsev gifted him the ammo,
"Hey, hey, I never threatened him. It's not my fault he knew I meant I was going to punch his face off. Your honor, I never actually said it. "

That's not zaitsevs twitter...
But is it his Instagram? :sarcasm:

Social media truly some pathetic stuff and individuals. Nikita needs to get off of it and the computer tough guys need a life.

People shouldn’t say things on social media that they wouldn’t feel comfortable saying in real life.

I will go out on a limb and say many many guys lower down the NHL lineup don't give 2 f***s about being famous, building a brand, or their public-eye persona in general. That's why NHL has a dress code, because they would show up to the rink in sportswear and slippers too.

That's probably why those people are more prone to answer the way Zaitsev did too. They care about playing hockey and receiving a salary, not some social media BS.

Good. Fan probably deserved it.

AJ Greer called out a fan on his Instagram for sending him hate DM's with homophobic slurs. Everyone should be held accountable for what they say, regardless if it's at or away from the keyboard.

If you're talking shit, don't act surprised when you get punched in the face :dunno:

The easy solution is to just shut up and not be an asshole. Social media gives people the idea that they can just be raging douchebags with no consequences, so I'm not going to feel bad for these people when they get responses to being raging douchebags.

This pretty much sums up my thoughts:

Fans who do this kind of shit are just assholes and I'll side with the player unless the player is completely out of line.

Was just thinkin that it is a message request from Zaitsev, is it possible to have the request still visible if the piece of shit fan originally already had a conversation with him and deleted the messages? I think not.
