His performance last night reminded me of this scene from Butch Cassidy. While Kuch can play 3D chess when most everyone else on the ice is playing checkers, he has to do it at speed and/or while reacting to a defense. That setup last night just wasn't going to work for him.

I mean do these people think every player take the skills competition as seriously as a playoff game?
For years you've seen things like this. Fastest skater, accuracy shot, there's always a guy or two who just clearly aren't giving it there all. I've come to expect it, and I don't get mad.
Yes it's more fun when you get to see a guy with a skill level like Kuch go off, I also get when they don't. It's all a pretty relaxed environment.
At least he showed up.
Toronto fans like to whine. Maybe they should boo the team that will be lucky to get out of the first round this season.

Most of the time people could care less about this game not even talking about the skills comp but the minute kucherov acts like it's no big deal its the end of the world lol. Feel like he's not the first I've seen be like that before. He's just blatant with it which makes it priceless!

Kaprizov wasn’t selected for the skills competition. Can’t remember if he was hanging out there but I don’t think the full all star roster was on the ice.
