i’ve figured it out. kuch is incapable of playing fast so he sucks at the skill competition. he needs to always slow shit down which is the worst skill for this shit

With Kuch becoming the biggest heel in the NHL right now, i feel like its time he gets his own goal song and a little flair to his nickname
Introducing the RINK GENERAL!!!! NIKITA KUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCHEROVVVVVVVVV!!!!!

And his goal song will be:

WITH EVERYBODY CHANTING DOO DOO DOO DOOO DODOO DOO DOO DO DO DO!!!!

I couldn’t tell if he was hungover or if he was just isolated (only Russian skater there) but it’s not a good look. He’s already a lightning rod for hate so he’s not doing himself any favors.
Love Kuch. Here's my issue, the skills comp is voluntary.

If you're just gonna be an ass then don't volunteer. The optics are really crappy. Probably cost himself a hart.

There's no way to justify it. None. Just don't participate instead of that garbage. Disappointed. Hope he scores 80 in the 2nd half just to piss everyone off.

Yeah, that's just not representing well. I can see him just not being able to care that much about a skills exhibition at this point in his career when he shows he can make backhand passes no other player in the league can on a nightly basis, but again, just don't go if you're not into it.

Except that’s not how it went down. He’s the top scorer in the NHL, im guessing when he told them he’s not going to participate, Bettman pulled him to the side and said “you’re going to participate in this competition or else…”

I think people should stop guessing as to why he did what he did. It could have been any reason, he also wasn't the only player not going full throttle out there. Maybe someone should ask him?

My first thought before I came here was that he thought he would "slow the game down" and was being funny given the banter about how he plays, but I don't know.

Unless Kucherov comes out and says "yeah, f*** them fans" than I'm in his corner.

I will be so in his corner if he comes out and says, "yeah, f*** them fans."

I think Kuch went out there with every intention of trying to do well but when he made mistakes early he gave up. He's one of the best but as we all know, he can be very moody and sulky and when things aren't going his way he either shuts down or does something stupid. We've seen it a million times in games and even in playoff games.

Yeah he did not volunteer, guarantee it. Also it’s well known you get suspended if you skip out on the allstar weekend.

Where does it say that? Also you really think the nhl would let the best player opt out of skills comp
Either read it or heard on broadcast. He had the option to decline the invitation. Not everyone was invited, correct? If he was forced, I'll gladly issue a correction. Still love the guy.

It's just like being "invited" to the all-star game, from what I read it works the same. If you're nominated you gotta participate. Of course you can ask to opt out but you'll need justification and permission from the NHL first.

Whether or not he was "forced" to play in the skills comp is completely irrelevant. I'm actually embarrassed for some of the people trying to defend Kucherov. His behavior was trash for a child, let alone a grown ass man. His fellow All Stars didn't even pretend to act like it was funny, which is why he was sitting by himself looking like a complete fool with nobody talking to him. He disgraced himself and lost fans, and surely lost the respect of his peers.

As someone said above, there's just no justifying that crap.
