I'm rooting for Mackinnon and/or Kucherov to win.

Nothing against McDavid, but it's almost a certainty he'll win more awards in the upcoming years.

For Mackinnon and Kucherov it's far more likely their last chance to win any major awards. Kucherov is already 30, and this is Mackinnon's healthiest season in years, only 4 out of his 11 seasons has he played full seasons. That, and of course having to compete with a healthy, younger McDavid.

Worth mentioning that McDavid only played 19:03 last night while Kucherov, MacKinnon and Rantanen had TOI of 23:55 or more. I'm wondering how the Avs duo is able to hold up.

So as of today, if all 3 players play out all their games at their current pace, you'd end up with:

Kucherov 138 points in 81 games
MacKinnon 132 points in 82 games
McDavid 131 points in 80 games

As for Hart, there are so many dynamics at play that in a close race it's anybody's guess who wins the hart trophy.

Kucherov - weakest team, led all year, those are strong hart narratives in his favor.
MacKinnon - never won hart, can almost say he was even robbed in past, could be strong narrative for voters to push for him.
McDavid - voter fatigue is a huge negative if he doesn't win Ross by a big gap - flipside is, roaring back after being so far back and helping Oilers right ship this season in such a spectacular way are huge positives. Which narrative is stronger?

I've been saying all year McDavid roars back and wins both Ross and Hart so i'll stick to that prediction. This will be very exciting to follow till the end. I just hope no one gets injured.

I wonder if McDavid meets the requirements for the Masterton trophy. He did play injured for a short while as the Oilers struggled (and he struggled as well, by his standards) but the turnaround ever since has been spectacular both as a team and an individual. Furthermore, he's playing a more complete game ever since the coach change, a game that's more conducive to winning.

Cool, Kuch had a 6 pt game earlier this season as well.

Remeber when mcdsvid always got shit on for his defense. Doesn't get many pps this year. Close to the bottom of the league. +22.

I would argue 14 points back, because he'll most likely have less goals.

Seems like the All Star break completely derailed McKinnon, semi-derailed Kucherov, and rejuvenated McDavid.
McDavid had always produced the most in his career after the all star break

Thanks for telling me how much you don't care.

Didn't the Oilers just get shutout the game before this one?
Didn't LA get shut out/blown out the very next game by a lottery team? It happens all the time through an 82 game schedule.

McDavid takes the Art Ross again this year. The Hart will go to Mackinnon via fatigue/pity votes

With all McDavid's games in hand, if McDavid and Kucherov produced identically to their "since 2017-18" PPG pace and didn't miss games, McDavid would make up 12.71 points on Kucherov. Kucherov has 13 more points today. So that 6 assist game definitely made things interesting.

Supposedly better all around two-way wizards have fewer +20 seasons than McDavid did through just eight seasons, let alone the +22 he’s rocking with 33 games remaining, which would be his sixth such season.

List of players to get 100 assists in a single season:

- Orr
- Gretzky
- Lemiuex

McDavid is currently on pace for 95 assists in 80gp

However, his pace since Nov 24th (around when I believe he was fully healthy), is 105 in 80gp

He has a real chance to be the 4th member of the 100 assist club o_O

I think he’s going to do it. Just going at his pace from the past 4 seasons puts him at 93, so it’s not a stretch at all to think he picks up an extra 7 assists along the way.

That’s when he remembers he’s the best skater, stickhandler and accuracy shooter.

Crazy that Adam Oates once had 90 assists in 61 games, feeding Hull passes. That's a 118 pace in a then-80 game season. Got even closer to 100 a couple of years later with 97 in 84 games during that arguably craziest regular season in terms of scoring all time but fell just short.

Would be really special should McDavid make it. Maybe Draisaitl should suggest it to him (like he supposedly did suggest netting 60 goals before).

I'd put the odds 40-40-20 (McD, Kuch, MacK) right now. It's gonna be a tight race.

McDavid has publicly dismissed the scoring race. Oilers end the season in a back to back, if those games have no playoff indications they'll likely rest Connor for one of the games especially considering how condensed the Oilers schedule is for the reminder of the season.
