Did they just announce McDavid is out tonight? Last I heard and read a few minutes ago it's a game time decision. That said, I would tend to agree - if he is iffy, why play him given they need to rest him up for the games that matter in the playoffs. I can't imagine McDavid or the Oilers are so focused on getting him the Art Ross or Hart that they risk further injury to him. I'd certainly also like to see the Golden Knights win tonight (even though I am an Oilers fan) to increase the chance of seeing a Knights/Oilers first round matchup.

It said he was out 3 hours ago and now another update saying he's a game time decision about half an hour ago

McDavid missing tonight's game? That means making up 9 points in 5 games, with a game in hand. That's tough with the way kucherov has been playing.

And Stevens took out Lindros who is 6'4"-6'5" and 250 lbs of muscle.

So you’re saying they were unnecessarily big, lacked range of motion, plodded around, and were tweaking on the ‘roids?

But he (Scott Stevens) was at the time exactly what fans and coaches wanted...

Anyway.....off track. This is all about the Kucherov circle jerk ;)

Can Kucherov get 11 points in the next 4 games to hit 150?
Honestly I think it's unlikely, if only because that would be like 23 points in his final 8, which would be insane. Not saying he isn't capable of doing it--he clearly is--but I wouldn't bet on it.

I don't know if I’d bet against a guy with 32 in his past 13 either though

Just so its on record. At the time of the injury for mcdavid which starts today

Kucherov 139 in 77 1.81 ppg
Mcdavid 130 in 74 1.76 ppg.
This way there cant be any excuses
Nobody is going to make excuses. At least they shouldn’t. This is about Kucherov peaking higher for point production than anyone of the last 30 years outside of 96 Mario and 21/23 McDavid. It’s his moment. The only ppg that top it in for ‘24 levels the last 30 are 2.06 96 ML, 2.01 21 CM, 1.85 23 CM. Those closest to it are 1.80 if you count 41 game Crosby from 2011 but if not it’s 1.79 99 Jagr and 1.76 24 McDavid and 96 Jagr tie.

Could McDavid have done 160s this year if completely healthy? Judging by his relatively healthy ppg this year absolutely but he didn’t and we know why. The valiant effort you mentioned of 114 in his last 58 is what made it close for ppg anyway and even though that’s a 160+ guy that doesn’t count as the season. That doesn’t take away from what we see this year from Kucherov. No excuses should be made and it’s his to lose now.

Says who? LOL Ridiculous. Kuch stirs the drink in Tampa
He’s definitely making absurdist comments in parody of the guy who said a 120 point season is a nothing achievement.

To hell with this meaningless race. It was cool heading down the stretch but if he is feeling anything I don't want injuries to disrupt the playoff run.
Rest up. Heal up.
Agreed. It’s the presidents trophy of individual achievements. If you don’t have it locked up going into the final week, no use hurting your chances at a healthier cup run to get it.

No it hasn’t. It has happened twice outside of the greatest player (and playmaker) ever doing it routinely in his prime. The other two singular times it has happened were by the second and third best players ever. All of them were done in higher scoring environments than this current one as well.

Just because McDavid and Kucherov may both hit it doesn’t mean that it’s losing its value or importance. In terms of era adjustment both McDavid and Kucherov’s assists per game this year only trail the very best Gretzky seasons. Be thankful that you are watching history because this is amazing.
I think what he meant was that its losing its importance because the russian may do it as well.. Before that seemed likely people were talking differerent about it but now they are changing towards mackinnons 50 goal to change the narrative for the heart which people thought would be locked in if mcdavid dis it alone.

That is EPIC. That's next level hockey. 4D chess. There's no wrong answer this year. But to make your assertion is nonsense.

THAT is a spinorama, btw

This is exactly what I first thought. If he's "game time decision" then it makes no sense to rush him back for one game and risk re-aggravating whatever it is instead of sitting him one game and having him fully ready to go next game.

Oilers have locked up a playoff spot. Why risk a lengthy playoff run just to play in a (relatively) meaningless game when not at 100% this close to the playoffs?

If he's playing tonight it is 100% his call, you know the coaches and management would sit him if they could right now in preparation for the playoffs. If he's playing tonight it's because he wants to chase down the scoring title.
