McDavid will need to score around 1.8PPG over the next 58 games to pass Kucherov.
Definitely possible. In his last 240 regular season games McDavid has a 1.73 PPG average. He has had numerous 50-60 game stretches of above 1.8 PPG in his career in recent years. I’d expect Kucherov to land between 120 and 130 this year. He is so so good and given the career worst start to the season/injury for McDavid we could very well see Kucherov capitalize and win the Ross this year. I still think McDavid will do it but I wouldn’t be upset with Kucherov winning. Should be a fun race regardless.

So in your mind generational is all about hype and nothing to do with actual accomplishment. Gotcha.

You may have to define what an accomplishment is if you feel this way. I think you missed the boat and it sailed away on you on this one.

I’m not going to waste my time on someone who needs basic words defined for him and who chooses ad hominem attacks over intelligent rebuttal. I’m through with you.

.ppg pace. Very happy to see Pasta up there! I could see Connor getting a few points today against NJ. Shame Hughes missed games due to injury. He seems poised to win a Ross in the next few years and maybe this one!

I don't think I need basic words defined for me when you describe this as "hype".

Career playoff points-per game if you take away 2019-20 and 2020-21:
Kucherov: 1.00
P.Kane: 0.96

It's absolutely ridiculous to claim either of these players "dissapear" in the playoffs. You're either a troll or plain stupid. Your love of Kane and hatred of Kucherov probably has something to do with it.

Lol.

Comment I was replying to mentioned something about Kane and sexual assault which is dumb... I thought it was obvious my reply was more in jest

If it's in jest, doesn't it need to be funny?

Looked to me like you were grasping at straws and found the shortest one in the stack....doubled down, and now you wanna take it back. Just take the L

It’s funny all the hand-wringing about that term, “generational”. It really doesn’t mean anything. It’s a term of art. At its most literal form, one of Gretzky or Lemieux can’t be generational or perhaps even neither because they are from the same generation and are comparable talents.

I think it's kind of odd to talk about Kucherov as a generational player, and sets the bar at a point that's not really fair. "Generational" is such a subjective term. Like, if all but the very best players in history are generational (if Crosby is the worst generational player), then Kucherov doesnt make the cut. If you put the bar around MacKinnon level, you have to include Kucherov. Personally, I go with the former. I think there may have been 10 generational players ever.

I grew up a Red Wings fan, switched to TB after college when I started watching hockey again and Steve Yzerman was GM in TB. I'm not sure if Kucherov isnt the best forward I've ever seen play on a game by game basis.

In the early years of Kucherov's career, we used to talk on the TB forums about how there was such a HUGE difference between his A game and his B game. Like, if he wasnt COMPLETELY dialed in with timing, he could be a liability. These days it's really rare to see him have bad stretches. He still coughs up pucks etc, but the offense he provides drastically outweighs those mistakes. I think his ability to see ten steps ahead of the play is on par with the best ever. He doesnt have the skill of some of those great generational players, but I do think he sees the ice as well as they did. I've never seen a guy whose secondary assists are more often the play that was key for the goal than Kucherov. Nor have I ever seen a guy so lethal when standing still, because he knows what he's gonna do before the puck even gets to him.

I dont think he's a generational player, but I think he's very, very special. Probably the second best player in the league right now, and over the last handful of years.
