He’s like Draisaitl with magic first touch passThere is something about Kucherov on the half wall this season on the PP
It’s like a cheat code him standing over there
He has about 30% more pp points than 2nd place
And also disappeared in non COVID playoffs
I think he should be the favorite for the Hart right now too. TB would be trending for a lottery pick without him.
But he’s a -1 and does he block shots?Absolutely the favorite up to this point.
Leading the league in scoring, first in goals, first in assists, first in PPG, has factored in on 49.5% of his teams’ goals, and scored his fourth game-winning goal out of thirteen wins.
So far, he’s having a better campaign than 2018-2019.
But he’s a -1 and does he block shots?
(OH THIS IS FUN)
I know. It’s f***ing dumb. This is also a true statement. Not that he should, but Kucherov certainly doesn’t get the grief that McDavid does when it comes to these matters.
Players with 30+ points in back-to-back postseasons in NHL history:
- Wayne Gretzky
- Mario Lemieux
- Nikita Kucherov
Players with > 125 points in a season in the 21st century:
- Nikita Kucherov
- Connor McDavid & Leon Draisaitl
When a player accomplishes multiple feats of that caliber that hadn’t been done in a generation or more, one of which puts him in a class with only himself and the consensus two greatest ever to play the game, I’d say that qualifies him as generational.
McDavid has the flash and the hype, not to mention the Canadian citizenship and team, but especially when you look at postseason performances there’s no question that Kucherov is a one-in-a-generation player.
This is an absolute f***ing insane sentence reallyThough, McDavid has 21 points in his last 8 games since he's looked 'recovered' from whatever he was dealing with.
That's impressive and all, but that's not generational.
Yes, when one of the feats is scoring a mere three points more than Thornton on a team that scored 60+ goals more (I don’t have the numbers for how many points he factored in on during the first third of the season in Boston or for the Sharks in his 58 games for them), it’s a flawed (not to mind you, cherry picked) argument.
Up until the 2018-2019 season, Thornton was the only player in the 21st century to hit 125 points, a similar argument as the one presented for Kucherov.
As for the playoffs, again very impressive for Kucherov, but we can do something similar for Thornton again. Back to back 90+ assist seasons. Only Gretzky and Lemieux have ever done it.
Does this make Thornton generational? No, and neither do these terrific accomplishments by Kucherov.
Those points have to be subtracted from his total, as powerplay points don't count. This is the HF way. There is something about Kucherov on the half wall this season on the PP
It’s like a cheat code him standing over there
He has about 30% more pp points than 2nd place
Didn’t Kucherov have the most play off points of his era? I mean the guy has 160 points in 142 play off games
Thanks for proving my point...those numbers are quite a bit worse than those regular season numbers...huge choke job to the Blue Jackets too.
Do you ever get tired of moving goal posts when you continuously get refuted? Thanks for proving my point...those numbers are quite a bit worse than those regular season numbers...huge choke job to the Blue Jackets too.
And also disappeared in non COVID playoffs
Kucherov is on pace for 136 points (81 games)
McDavid is on pace for 124 points (80 games)
Though, McDavid has 21 points in his last 8 games since he's looked 'recovered' from whatever he was dealing with. If he were to continue that pace for the remaining 58 games, he'd finish with 186 points. Seems unlikely, but the race will be interesting either way.
