It’s a low risk signing
It works out great u got a good cheap player
It doesn’t u bury him

Now I think it’s Robertson time so just making room for Robertson to be a regular?
I think moves are finally coming
Realization this roster isn’t great is here
I love trades and rumours so let’s go
Problem is Dubas can only make low risk signings because he has no cap space. I’d be afraid what kind of awful moves he would make if he had money to spend. The guy has no clue

I still think it was a good signing that just didn't work out - for now. Maybe he doesn't get claimed and with more ice time playing with the Marlies he finds his game again. I don't think we missed out on signing Johnny Hockey this summer because Dubas wanted a formerly effective puck hound

I'll take Robertson, Malgin, Simmonds, Holmberg, and even Clifford in the lineup for NAK.

Zero risk move by Dubas bringing him in, turns out we had the guys we needed in the system already.

We need Malgin and Robertson's secondary scoring and we need an enforcer like Simmer or Clifford over an energy guy like Aube-Kubel. I wanted him waived at the end of training camp. I figured he wouldn't last long.

Hear by noon?

Should he clear he can be assigned to the AHL but there is at least a good chance that someone decides to take Aube-Kubel after his strong performance last year. In 67 regular season games with the Colorado Avalanche (after a waiver claim), he scored 11 goals and 22 points. He then suited up for 14 playoff games en route to a Stanley Cup championship.

He did fail to score a point in those 14 postseason contests, which could have been a bit of foreshadowing for this season. In those six games with Toronto, he generated just two shots on goal but did record 21 hits. His limited minutes included almost no offensive starts, leading to brutal possession numbers.

Imagine how much more heavier this team could play today if they had Hyman, Ritchie and or Lybushkin, Bogosian, a healthy Foligno and Muzzin, Simmonds and even Clifford spread out throughout the lineup.
With all due respect that team would have played like they had cement in their skates. But I do agree I think there needs to be a bit more balance.

I loved Bogo during his time here. Same goes for Bush and Muzz (when helathy). Simmer, Cliff and Foligno brought what they could, but those are guys that have played the game so hard for so long and they just physically don't have the ability to continue to do that night in and night out on a consistent basis.

As I said before, I hope NAK clears. I really think he just needed a bit of a wakeup call. I also kind of fell for him a bit. On the outside we look like a team that needs a player exactly like him, but our system just doesn't really work for meat and potatoes type of players. Sheldon wants possession through neutral ice and over the blue line when possible. It's something I am not sure NAK will ever excel at. Him and ZAR really should be putting pucks in behind the D and making them play hard minutes. I hope he gets another shot with us personally

The majority of the team already plays slow anyways.

We're not a fast team especially on the back end

I’m god with this. More room for youngsters like Holmberg and Robertson and possibly Steeves for 4th line to play. Keefe can’t be tempted to play him now.

I thought he would clear, surprised he was claimed.
He won a Stanley cup last year someone was going to claim him.

If he turns into something like Ritchie, something is wrong here.
Partly it's how ice time is distributed I'm guessing. 4th line on this type of top 2 line heavy team isn't going to leave much for that line to make too big of am impact. It's fine but then your top 2 lines have to produce a lot.

I thought 50/50 and like I was saying I saw somewhere caps were looking around at forwards.

I guess they figured take a flyer on him. He is only 1 mil so he can be buried too. No one wanted to give up even a 7th rounder for him.

Oh well, not a huge loss.

Even accounting for his heavy defensive starts, he was awful in possession and defensively. He didn't really PK (ZAR does) and ZAR has looked better than him recently.

He was a cheap UFA signing. No harm done and we have plenty of alternatives.
